Travel's editorial guidelines Updated on August 20, 2019 Whether you’re after some easy comfort food or just staff who won’t greet the kids with a frown, we’ve picked the best family-friendly restaurants in Hong Kong. 01 of 03 Limewood Limewood Hong Kong Address Limewood Shop 103/104 The Pulse, 28 Beach Rd, Repulse Bay, Hong Kong Get directions Phone +852 2866 8668 Web Visit website The kids get the beach. You get the best BBQ in Hong Kong. Limewood is a pretty good deal for everyone. Hong Kong has plenty of beaches but not many beachfront restaurants so this BBQ joint is a rare find. The sandalwood terrace spills on to the waterfront at Repulse Bay, while floor to ceiling windows let in the sea breeze. But Limewood doesn’t rest on the laurels of its location; the food is excellent, with dishes like spicy tiger prawn rolls and charred lime pork neck often given a Caribbean twist by the resident half-Dominican chef. And if you are here without the kids you’ll want to wrap your hands around one of the best margaritas in town. Book ahead? Yes, on weekends.Nearest MTR: You’ll need the bus out to Repulse BayAddress: 28 Beach Road, Repulse Bay 02 of 03 One Thirty One One Thirty One Address 131 Tseung Tau Village, Shap Sze Heung, Sai Kung, Hong Kong Get directions Phone +852 2791 2684 Web Visit website Grass. Actual grass. Actual grass that you can step on without being shouted at – for those that have been in Hong Kong for a while that’s probably all you need to know about One Thirty One. Hong Kong is the most built-up city on earth and space is at a premium. If you need somewhere where the kids can run around, book a table here and release the kids on to the well-tended lawn. In return, you’ll need to stump up for a pricey set menu, although the French food is excellent and the wine list as good as any in Hong Kong. You’ll also need to get here. Set in a village outside Sai Kung the rural location gives the gift of the outdoors but also means you’ll need a taxi for the final leg of the journey. Book ahead? YesNearest MTR: University Station and then 10 mins by taxiAddress: 131 Tseng Tau Village, New Territories 03 of 03 Jamie's Italian Jamie's Kitchen Hong Kong Jamie's Italian gets a bit of a bad rap. But as long as you don’t come here expecting fine dining in high-end surroundings you’ll enjoy your time here. Instead, this is a comfortable restaurant where you can enjoy unhurried comfort food. There are burgers with provolone cheese, pork chops with an apple salad and other family favorites that are fancy enough to appeal, but not too fancy to have the kids asking about McDonald's. And, Jamie’s does kids. Staff know how to dodge toddlers under their feet and won’t groan if a salt shaker takes a tumble from the table or a bottle needs warming up. Book ahead?
