Team Rocket's Ending is/will Be Canon for The Anime?

Everyone is aware of the infamous panel of Jessie and James' ending arc in the (still very much) legally licensed by Nintendo manga series called The Electric Tale of Pikachu, now more than ever there is evidence for the anime moving them in that path aswell

Despite the manga running from 1999 to 2000 we have had a reference or two to Jessie's haircut in the ending in Seviper's 2003 debut episode

And very recently in the XY and XYZ/Ultimate Journeys series James appearing with his signature ponytail for the first time ever in the anime both casually and under disguise

And with this being a reoccuring theme now for James, Ash winning the pokemon league and going on a hiatus from adventuring - it seems like all stars are aligned for the manga ending being hinted at or shown in the future as a cameo?

The newgen Horizons's cast now confirmed to have a timeskip in the near future, the first ever for this franchise - if they ever were to cross paths with the original members... we already know what is going on with at least 3 of them...

That would be wonderful, but their Japanese voice actors have repeatedly insisted in recent interviews that they are just best friends in a unique relationship and will not be a couple. This manga is an AU loosely inspired by a handful of episodes from the original series—when I say "loosely inspired," I mean there are huge differences from the anime.

Can a man and a woman

be "just friends"?

We ask the Rocket trio

Translation by Dogasu here:

Here is also a piece of an interview from the magazine *Pash* from 2022, which still talks about their relationship,

Hayashibara: I'm not trying to put myself down at all, but I think that if someone else had played Musashi, maybe she could have been even sexier.

Inuyama: That might be true.

Miki: When I think back to the beginning, I really admire Kojirō. In my twenties, I wasn’t nearly as composed as he is. I feel like I haven’t grown at all... But Kojirō, the way he interacts with his teammates like that—it’s really impressive.

Hayashibara: People often ask me, “Don’t Musashi and Kojirō have romantic feelings for each other?” Of course, it’s great if fans enjoy that kind of imagination, but in reality, that’s not the case.

Miki: Yeah, it’s not the case. And I think that’s part of what makes their relationship unique, something you don’t really see in other works.

And the other interview excerpt is from a magazine from 1999—the release date of the AU manga.

I know of that and let us keep in mind voice actors don't have influence on plot of their characters!

I have seen this time and time again where people think of actors as story writers/all knowing beings when that goes to the creators/directors or the company instead. Seiyuus are there for their voice providing skills, tweaks on expressing an emotion if the crew like it more than their vision and that's as far as it goes (exhibit A: steven universe cast of voice actors shipping characters that never became canon because the creator never intended it)

It's important to know what they think! It's also important to keep in mind that they have as much control as we do (except they get to live the dream of being the characters)

As far as the anime goes, they are right for now, hence why we have 2 routes of thought as of now

‘Flipcomics’ for SpongeBob Comics #30

This is something fun Chris Duffy and I cooked up for the current issue of SpongeBob Comics. Animation in a comic book, you ask? These gifs don’t do it justice—you’ll have to snatch up a copy to see the flipbook effect yourself. What are you waiting for?! Here are a couple vines (1, 2) that show you how it works.

“Oh no there’s only one bed” trope doesn’t really work with Team Rocket because honestly they’d be more like “oh my god look, a bed!”

Dude they canonically sleep all cuddled into a pile even when there isnt a bed

Perfect addition, and I love that so much

Allow me to add a collection of Team Rocket casually sleeping on each other, because this is the only reason I’m alive

Honestly they could have a million beds and they’d still end up sharing one
