having talented friends is so COOL

yes, show me your absolutely awesome sketch/drawing, can I scream at how good it is?

yes, show me the way you use words and sentences in your breathtakingly stunning story you wrote through the night on no sleep and energy drinks???

YES, show me your thoughts on that topic and please enlighten me about the thing you fixated on.

what? I can't right now? Idc, spamm our chat and I'll come back and read through it. DO IT. NOW, this is a threat, I love you

Yes! This is 100% how I think too! I wish people would do all of that to me, even if i don't quite understand the topic they're fixated on. That light in their eyes when they talk about it is enough on its own and it makes my day so much brighter too! Some people I know draw so well that I would literally be watching them draw random lines and somehow that would all turn into this amazing sketch!

I think part of the reason why Arcane season 2 has some hardcore fans foaming and praising it so much, is because the voice actors did a very good job. All of them. So some dialogue seems normal or even good. But when you read the captions only, you realize some of the lines don't make sense or are low quality.

Like Caitlyn saying "I'm a decorated officer..." when she isn't at all, or Ambessa whispering "you're the wolf" as her dying breath. Or Vi saying "she oinked poison in your ear and you just ate it". Or Jayce saying "there's beauty in imperfection".

As I said in a previous post, some of the dialogue feels like the writers wanted some cool one-liners without giving them much thought. And they work, but only because the animation and the voice acting are the best. Once you start analyzing it without hearing the voices, it falls flat.

can we specifically talk about the "oinked poison in your *ear* and you just *ate* it" part cause what

like my first language isn't english so of course this could be an idiomatic sentence, and if it is tell me about it, but just like wdym oinked poison in her EAR and then she ATE it? That's two different things. If it at least said "you ate it UP" but no it says she ate it.

call me nitpicky or whatever you like but to me this doesn't make sense because it doesnt even correlate. Though, again if this is a sentence being used in the english language (i googled it and didn't find anything but yk) then I'd love to know

Yeah English isn't my first language either so I thought "oinked" meant pouring. I mean in any case it wouldn't be "ate", but I could make an exception. But when I translated it I was like wtf NONE of the words are cohesive at all.

it's just, even if oinked meant pouring, it would still say "oinked in her ear" and ear isn't mouth so? how would she EAT IT? "she ate it up" would already make so much more sense.

But yeah, same I also tried looking for the sentence, thinking maybe it'll show up and it's a known one but nope. Not as far as I know

English also inst my first language but many lines this season feel like they wrote it in another language and put it through google translate.

And we have CONFIRMATION that they took an idiomatic expression from SPANISH and tried to translated it and put on the show.

The dirt under your nails one.

No SHIT it sounds weird as fuck, context aside (which is bad too)

Reminds me of those weird poetry sentences we see on tik tok that are just "he found me crying, he crew too" or whatever lmao

the thing is most times a sentence like that ONLY makes sense in its own language and translated into another just doesn't work and "dirt under your nails" definetly did not work in their favor context or no

JAJAJ LITERALLY.

Besides, in Spanish we have another version of that, "uña y carne": "nail and meat/flesh (?)", which sounds better than "uña y mugre". Apparently the English version would be "thick as thieves".

Why they couldn't ADAPT the idiom instead of literally translating it, that's what a teenager writing their first fanfic in English using google translator would do, not a "professional" team with enough resources to ask a linguist.

in german we have the saying "durch dick und dünn gehen" which basically means "going through thick and thin together" and it means that you are going through anything together, no matter the situation in life. I think "thick as thieves" is the english way for that and I also have NO idea why that wasn't what they chose to use.

what I'm trying to say is there were so many ways for them to make it work and for some reason they just decided to not make it work

It's giving the writers saying "I'm 14 and this is deep"

just started yellowjackets and I swear I've been giggling about the worst stuff

like it's horrible how Shauna and her daughter both try (i say try loosely cause Shauna succeeded lmfao) to blackmail the other with the cheating thing and Shauna just threatening her daughters future

but I seriously just laughed, that was so unhinged

Seriously, nothing makes sense at all xd.

This shows good voice acting and animation can blind people into thinking they just watched a masterpiece when the only master thing about it, is how they ruined it.

the animators and voice actors were putting their lives in for this show for it to do that, I'd end it all if I were them /j

The State department has changed LGBTQ to LGB.

If you claim to care about trans people now is a good time to show genuine ally ship.

And I mean being an ACTUAL ally.

I don't mean sexualizing us or watching trans porn.

I don't mean treating trans mascs like "uwu soft baby boy" and trans femmes as "yass queen girl boss".

I don't mean expecting praise for using the right pronouns and using incorrect ones when "they're a bad trans person".

I mean ACTUAL SUPPORT.

Donate to trans shelters or organizations. DON'T out us to people we aren't out to. Go to protests if you're able, FIGHT ALONGSIDE US. Don't bring us around people you know are transphobic or dangerous, the list goes on. The LGBTQ community is ALL of us not just some of us.

Trans people who are documented as trans on government documents are currently not able to get passports - whether or not they accept their passport being issued as their birth sex, any indication that you're trans on a document that can be accessed by the government is being used as reason to deny a passport.

This is incredibly alarming. Even agreeing to be labeled as your birth sex is not sufficient. They want to deny trans people the ability to leave the country. Any possible reason for this is horrifying.

We need to rally now. Protect the entire community, do not allow them to throw any of us under the bus. None of us will be spared, they're just coming for the most vulnerable people first, and soon enough the most vulnerable people will be YOU.

genuinely the worst thing about what the writers did in Arcane season 2 is make every bad action seem good.

Caitlyn gassing civilians; but oh she didn't actually, they say, she *only* went after the shimmer and chem barons. (also wtf does that even mean "only" like jesus christ)

are they.... like dumb?

no it baffles me, are they? Obviously people will defend it if the show acts like it's fine and I just? I wonder if it's done on purpose.

Just like with the CaitVi stuff, which believe me I wanted to love Caitvi, HELLO? But how could I like that? Or Vi's alcoholism, of course people will brush over it if the show does, of course people will treat her sex scene with Caitlyn as awesome WHEN THE SHOW DOES IT FIRST. Of course people will think Mel's treatment by the show is fine, if said show acts like it is.

I could go on about this but yk what

I'm very curious honestly, what are your takes/complaints on the sex scene? Because I've seen a lot of deep dives/reviews and pretty much all are good and I'd like to hear your thoughts :3c

i made many many posts about it already, if you wanna see them I'm pretty sure they are very easy to find (I'm not that good with tumblr yet so if they actually aren't easy to find don't come for me) and I'm currently like very tired sooo please excuse me for anything that sounds weird. I'm trying haha.

But anyways here is like a summary of the problems I personally have with the scene and not that thorough, since yk I've done that:

The most glaringly bad thing is where the sex scene happened. Had it not been in the prison cell (mind you Vi's sister was in that one ready and about to kill herself and when getting free actually told Vi she will do exactly that) that is in the very same prison Vi spent all her formative years getting abused in a lot of my problems wouldn't be there.

Like yeah, what they did with CaitVi before prison sex was also very debatable (very.) HOWEVER the sex scene existing in the space it does makes it so much worse.

Furthermore the lack of consideration towards Vi's Trauma, the fact that Caitlyn just got away with basically anything etc etc. (I'm sorry I really can't get into it deeper my brain is not up to that rn :<)

Again, the inconsiderate way they handled Vi's trauma and its existence proves the point of my original post quite well: The show acted like that was a good idea when... like? no. And with the show being like THIS IS AWESOME, of course some fans will also jump to that conclusion.
