To help promote South Devon and the town and areas which lay within the region as lockdown restrictions are eased and as we look to welcome tourists back we are launching a Love and Explore South Devon campaign.
We would like all businesses to support the campaign and to use the messaging when communicating to potential visitors over the following months.
The campaign is broken down in to two sections
#LoveSouth Devon
#ExploreSouthDevon
Details and messaging ideas on each section can be found below.
To assist you utilising this messaging you can download copies of the social media images which can be used across all channels along with the accompanying hashtags. We will do all we can to share posts using the hashtags.

We have also hosted a new blog post as the destination to send consumers to, which includes details and tips relating to the two elements of the campaign and how to visit South Devon safely, as people start to take day trips and visits again. The blog post can be found here and any business is welcome to share this.
Here are some messaging ideas for each area of the Love and Explore South Devon campaign
• Respect our local communities and residents.
• Not all businesses, towns and areas are re-opening at the same speed, some places will remain closed for longer, so we should continue to love these places from afar
• Please use public facilities respectively; check if toilets are open before travelling, use public car parks and park responsively and please take your litter home
• Respect any specific guidelines that have been put in place
• Plan ahead before travelling, check new road layouts, transport options and opening details
• Protect yourself and others. Encourage visitors to always follow current guidelines and point people to where they can find guidelines. https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus
• Detail what safety messages your business is putting in place before you re-open
• As well as covid guidelines many other guidelines and codes are still relevant when going out for a day trip. The Countryside Code sets out how visitors to rural areas can behave safely and the RNLI have details on how to visit the coast responsibly.

• Protect the environment by travelling sustainably and staying local.
• Encourage people to find a new favourite spot in South Devon. If large numbers of people head to the same place socially distancing is impossible. Instead, seek out some new favourite get aways from the crowds
• Promote new services and offerings that your business is implementing, are you doing something new and different to enable you to reopen
• Promote different times to come and visit, are you opening later in the day or different times to help manage footfall
• Spread the message that it’s an important time to support local businesses
• Encourage visitors to take photos of their surroundings and sharing them with us #ExploreSouthDevon
• Use descriptive and engaging content to encourage visitors to the town
When sharing this consumer messaging across digital channels it’s important to consider the following;
• We recommend all posts provide clear links and calls to action to the Love and Explore pages on Visit South Devon website and to the tourism businesses mentioned
• Social media posts should be short and friendly, speaking to the audiences on a personal one on-one level
• #LoveSouthDevon #ExploreSouthDevon hashtag should be used consistently
