Thick plumes of smoke are filling the sky in Bristol this afternoon, as a large fire rages in the city. Pictures and videos from the scene on Saturday, December 14, show a thick cloud of black smoke pour into the sky above the city.

According to Bristol Live, the plume of smoke is visible from the M5. One person told the website the fire was in a scrap yard and there was an acrid smell of burning tyres. A video sent to Bristol Live by a reader showed that the fire is raging, having taken hold in what look like a residential area.

The cause and exact location of the fire has not yet been confirmed but it appears to be in the Easton area. You can follow the live updates for this incident on Bristol Live's page here.
