Benedict Dossen

Biography

S. Benedict Dossen is a vital member of The Carter Center’s Global Behavioral Health team and Country Program Lead for the Center’s Mental Health Program in Liberia. He serves on the Technical Coordinating Committee that led the development of Liberia's mental health legislation and two policies/plans (2009 – 2015 & 2016 – 2021) and is involved in developing the third policy/plan for the next five years. In 2020, he led the Technical Working Group that drafted the national standard operating procedures and action plan for COVID MHPSS. He is a UK Chevening Scholar and research ethics fellow of New York University’s joint program with the WCG IRB. He serves on the National Research Ethics Board (NREB) and the Atlantic Center for Research and Evaluation (ACRE) IRB in Liberia. Mr. Dossen holds an MSc in Global Mental Health from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and Kings College London.
