Partnerships are essential for WHO to accomplish its mandated work. WHO/Europe collaborates with many institutions that support mission critical efforts and yield broad benefits to Member States.

WHO’s partners:

  • support WHO’s technical and scientific work
  • engage in WHO’s campaigns and programmes
  • join WHO in advocacy to bring policy and behaviour change for better health and well-being
  • contribute funding and resources.

By collaborating with WHO, partners can:

  • gain access to WHO expertise and guidance
  • build capacity
  • increase collaboration opportunities and outreach with a wide range of stakeholders
  • make a meaningful impact on public health.

WHO/Europe’s partnerships are vital for the implementation of the European Programme of Work, 2020–2025 – “United Action for Better Health” (EPW), as well as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The EPW emphasizes the importance of collaboration, partnerships and a multisectoral approach to leverage each other’s strength to address public health challenges.

WHO/Europe engages with partners bilaterally, but also facilitates and convenes networks, initiatives and task forces with numerous partners at regional and subregional levels.

Our health goals require strong partnerships across the Region. That’s why the WHO/Europe collaborates with a wide range of partners to improve health-for-all together and accomplish common objectives such as the Sustainable Development Goals and the European Programme of Work.
