I have changed the statement subclass of (P279)watercourse (Q355304) to subclass of (P279)body of water (Q15324), because watercourse (Q355304) concerns the one-directional natural flow of water, which isn't usually the case for canals. Deryck Chan (talk) 23:19, 8 October 2017 (UTC)
- Now it is reinstated as a watercourse, after being put back and forth. Apparently this produces endless confusion as people are looking for an item about canal which is for a watercourse.
- Which canals don't concern flow of water? I'd say that they pretty much always do. Even sluice (Q610559) canal concerns flow of water, though flow direction may change and water may be temporarily locked between sluices. Also, where does it say that watercourses only deal with natural flow? As for flow direction, there are natural watercourses where flow direction changes too, e.g. tidal creek (Q27250).
- I think this can be kept as a watercourse without considerable disadvantage. Or if not, then there should a separate item which isn't too hard to find. I now found out about canal (Q8261440), but this is currently marked as a duplicate item. 90.191.81.65 19:27, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
