It is not a cathedral. In a loose sense it was a cathedral from 1923 to 1995, when it was the principal church of the now defunct Apostolic Vicariate of Asmara. Since the suppression of the vicariate the church is under the jurisiction of the (arch)eparchy of Asmara, which has a different church as its cathedral. Theodoxa (talk) 20:00, 18 March 2017 (UTC)
