Merging items

[edit]

Hallo 99kerob,

For merging items, you may want to use the merge.js gadget from help page about merging. It has an option "Request deletion for extra items on RfD" to automatically place a request to delete the emptied page. This way of nominating makes it a lot easier for the admins to process the requests.

With regards,

Cześć, poprawiłem twój wpis dotyczący rejestru zabytków. To tak na przyszłość :). Yarl 💭  07:38, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello 99kerob. I see that you add location (P276) for several sports events, with a value for which city or town, but shouldn't it really be sports-arena and use the located in the administrative territorial entity (P131) instead for the city or town ? I have always used p276 for the sports-arena. What do your think or what is your idea ? Best regards Migrant (talk) 15:12, 18 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Cycling-Init-Bot

[edit]

Hi and welcome on Cycling-Init-Bot. You are one the first user (except me), so let me know if you experience any problem. Did the activation e-mail come to you? Can you confirm that your are the new user, so I give you more rights. Psemdel (talk) 10:13, 31 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Psemdel: Nope, I didn't get a confirmation email so I can't login yet. I will surely contact you if anything won't be clear. BTW. I saw your message about race infobox but still don't know how to import it into pl.wiki - I guess that whole code from module here need to be imported there to make it work? Sorry for bothering you - I love whole module and I learned how to use it to get outcome I want but my technical knowledge is so small that I simply don't know how it works on technical side ;). 99kerob (talk) 10:27, 31 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, Gmail received the order to send the email but blocked it, I hope it is solved. You are now active and "autochecked" (your requests start right away). The bot is there to fill wikidata, the module to display wikidata into wikipedia. Don't worry, 4 years ago I also had no clue, learning is possible. Neverthess, objective is clearly with this website, that you don't need to learn. The module was stable the whole last year, so clearly we are at the end of the journey. Psemdel (talk) 10:38, 31 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Psemdel:
1) About raceinfobox - I copied your version of module into pl.wiki and translated it and it seems to be working good. Just some small issues happened:
a) month on which race is organized is displayed in French language (for example for pl:Puchar Ministra Obrony Narodowej it says "co roku (juill.)" instead of local one,
b) files are linked as "Fichier:" instead "File:" which doesn't work on pl.wiki (I already corrected that at code at pl.wiki into "Plik:" and it work that way) - I already corrected that here too,
c) in Polish language "victories" have different translations depending on a number of wins: it should be "zwycięstwo" if victories=1, "zwycięstwa" if victories=2,3,4 or "zwycięstw" if victories=5 or more - is it possible to program it to display it that way? - I see that victories=1 version isn't needed as in that situation parameter is not displayed in infobox
d) If race changed it's category only last one is displayed on infobox instead of all ones (check pl:Puchar Ministra Obrony Narodowej where only 1.2 is displayed and 1.5 not)
e) how to use "circuit" parameter? I see that infobox have it but I don't know how I need to put info in Wikidata to display it in infobox. For pl:Puchar Ministra Obrony Narodowej I tried to do it by adding P361 -> Q1194340 (since 2005) but it isn't shown in article
2) About CyclingInitBot - I logged at site successfuly and tried to create some items but as I can see now all "requests" changed it's status from "pending" into "failed" and none of it where done at Wikidata. Apart from this I also noticed other small issue - there are only available categories used since 2005 (and not all of them as this year 1.Pro and 2.Pro was created for ProSeries circuit races) and not ones used before that date (like for example Q98686837). 99kerob (talk) 11:40, 31 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok thank you very much for the feedback. Sorry if not everything works as it should. I will correct what I can. Psemdel (talk) 16:06, 31 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
For 1.5, it is not listed in the module as class. It should just be added. Never heard about it...
@Psemdel: Thanks again for help! It works good, I also added other missed former UCI race categories as I now know how to do that ;). I've got one other small issue (I guess the last one :P) - as at pl.wiki we still don't have separate articles about each continental circuit (we have Europe and Oceania described but other are still missing) adding P642 -> Q268357 makes this particular category missed from infobox (check for example: pl:Tour du Faso: 2.5 is visible as it doesn't have P642 addition but 2.2 which have P642 -> Q268357 is not - just a parameter "circuit" is displayed below). Problem appears for all circuits that don't have an article at pl.wiki (and will disappear when article will be added as I can see for example at pl:Gravel and Tar Classic but I don't know when I will do that). 99kerob (talk) 17:38, 31 October 2020 (UTC) I created missing articles at pl.wiki so for us problem is solved but other Wiki's without particular articles still will have problems at such cases. 99kerob (talk) 19:20, 31 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hey. I solved the problem with the race creation Cycling-Init-Bot. Good that you used that, there was not so many races to create this year, and so it was not enough tested. Sorry for that. About circuit, I don't really get it. If the article is not there on WP:pl then it will be a black link. Is it such a "problem"? Psemdel (talk) 14:06, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Bot made a small mistake about dates (it should be 1 May for each edition which I set at your site and bot changed it to some April dates) but I will correct that during adding a list of winners. About infobox problem is that in such case info is not displayed at all (now it happens at pl:Paryż-Tours for 2009-2010 which was a part of Q12270097) - if for situation when such Wiki don't have such article it will be displayed just a category without link (for Paryż-Tours article it should be "1. PT (2009-2010)" between "1.PT (2005-2007)" and "1.HC (2011-2019)") it will be fine. 99kerob (talk) 17:55, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Cyclists' teams

[edit]

Hello! Thank you for your revert on my last modifications. Anyway, I have a question as I am not very familiar with Wikidata. I am currently preparing the lineups for the 2021 Mercan'Tour Classic Alpes-Maritimes here. How can I link Enzo Paleni, Joseph Pidcock and Laurence Pithie to the main Groupama-FDJ group? Thank you for your help. ACA Galaxy (talk) 17:57, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@ACA Galaxy: I already corrected that for you. If you want to use the start list part of cycling module in article in case of cyclists that are part of development team but are "loaned" to main team for specific event (like these 3 guys in that race) or competes for national team (like for example Polish NT at Tour de Pologne) you need to do it that way, using Property:P54 at race event wikidata item instead of adding such info at wikidata items for each cyclist like you tried to do. If you need any help ask me, @GAN: or @Psemdel: - some things may look complicated at first sight but later on it will become easier and easier to use that ;). 99kerob (talk) 18:04, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, thank you very much for your help. It already seems to be easier after working on that article. :) --ACA Galaxy (talk) 18:15, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@ACA Galaxy: If I understood correctly, then you are from a fr-wiki. Therefore, you can also ask in your bike section. Fr-wiki uses this module very actively. — GAN (talk) 19:00, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I will if needed. Just for your information, I have changed the starting point according to the tour's website. Thank you! --ACA Galaxy (talk) 19:03, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
My bad, the race has been shortened just before its start. I will correct. --ACA Galaxy (talk) 19:24, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

For race results

[edit]

99kerob and @Hejsa: https://dropmefiles.com/y3wUS A simple table for Excel to add results and rosters (only riders, I don't have a base for writing all teams by seasons). As well as creating seasons of teams in WD via https://quickstatements.toolforge.org/#/batch

There are almost 24.5 thousand riders in the table (mostly men). But because of their different spellings (dots, dashes, check marks above the letters. The table contains "Rafał Majka", but no "Rafal Majka"), not everything can be automatically found on the sites at once. — GAN (talk) 22:42, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • The list of riders may contain complete namesakes. For example Benjamin King (Q816536) and Benjamin King (Q817571). Or three "Jan Svorada". The table takes the first one in order. I have several more similar tables for filling and creating other velodata on WD. I can throw it off with a description in Russian. When translating Russian -> English -> Polish you can get "telephone game (Q151939)" :). In WD all Pro / World Tour races since 2005 are 85% done. That is, the calendar, the results of the stages, the teams. — GAN (talk) 14:21, 11 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Modelling of recurring cycling races

[edit]

Ad 1447174771

Hi! I don’t have much experience with modelling cycling races, so I copied the structure from Tour de France (Q33881), thinking that the world’s most famous cycling race should be modelled correctly. If it isn’t the case, could you please correct Tour de France as well? Thanks in advance! —Tacsipacsi (talk) 17:58, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Refugees

[edit]

Hi, why did you delete the refugee team from the Olympic games race? We made a fix to avoid a bug with the module. Psemdel (talk) 20:05, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Psemdel: There was no Refugee cyclists in both RR event - they got wild cards to compete only in ITT. 99kerob (talk) 20:18, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I was mistaken Psemdel (talk) 20:14, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

New element

Small request. Immediately indicate the English name for new elements in the WD. It is displayed for everyone if there is no name in their native language. — GAN (talk) 12:34, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thomas Sexton (Q28858867)

[edit]

Hello, why did you revert my edit on Thomas Sexton(Q28858867)? The Pro Cycling Stats link is incorrect and should be to the one I changed it to. Is there perhaps another way of doing what I did? Cheers Paulpat99 (talk) 20:58, 6 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Call for participation in a task-based online experiment

[edit]

Dear 99kerob,

I hope you are doing good,

I am Kholoud, a researcher at King's College London, and I work on a project as part of my PhD research, in which I have developed a personalised recommender system that suggests Wikidata items for the editors based on their past edits. I am collaborating on this project with Elena Simperl and Miaojing Shi.

I am inviting you to a task-based study that will ask you to provide your judgments about the relevance of the items suggested by our system based on your previous edits.

Participation is completely voluntary, and your cooperation will enable us to evaluate the accuracy of the recommender system in suggesting relevant items to you. We will analyse the results anonymised, and they will be published to a research venue.

The study will start in late January 2022 or early February 2022, and it should take no more than 30 minutes.

If you agree to participate in this study, please either contact me at kholoud.alghamdi@kcl.ac.uk or use this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSees9WzFXR0Vl3mHLkZCaByeFHRrBy51kBca53euq9nt3XWog/viewform?usp=sf_link

I will contact you with the link to start the study.

For more information about the study, please read this post: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:Kholoudsaa

In case you have further questions or require more information, don't hesitate to contact me through my mentioned email.

Thank you for considering taking part in this research.

Cycling

[edit]

I know. But this criterion shows us the leader/champion. in a specific account. A jersey not used by a rider for that race. After all, Sonny Colbrelli cannot race in the jersey of the champion of Italy, as he is obliged to wear the jersey of the champion of Europe. He has two jerseys. The same applies if the rider is in the lead in several classifications at once. With him, we indicate all the jerseys, and not the one in which he rode. — GAN (talk) 08:28, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Ben Turner: Turner was never a part of Alpecin's road racing team - he was competing for them only in cyclo-cross while still competing for amateur teams in terms of road racin
I agree about 2017 and 2019. But in 2018 he also competed in the road team. He's got at least three road starts for Coredon, according to the stats. Therefore, I added this team separately for 2018. — GAN (talk) 00:16, 24 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Tour de France 2022 / Tour de France Femmes 2022

[edit]

Diff and diff; I equalized differences in the "instance of" .. "stage race" instead of "instance of" .. "2.UWT". You can not handle it different in

2022 Tour de France (Q98043180) instance of: Tour de France and 2.UWT and subclass of: 2.UWT
and different in
2022 Tour de France Femmes (Q107565335): instance of: Tour de France Femmes and stage race and subclass of: 2.WWT
--Tommes (talk) 16:09, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Don't do that until module is updated! Otherwise you causes many errors in all Wikis using module - for example adding Q1318941 in P31 causes an error in Calendar part of module (used for example in pl.wiki: pl:UCI Women’s World Tour 2022 which after your edit was displaying "wyścig wieloetapowy" (Polish name for Q1318941) instead of a name of race. Also removing a class from P31 in that moment causes errors both in race infoboxes and calendars. Just wait until @Psemdel: will finish all his edits and don't rush things 99kerob (talk) 16:21, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Only WP:es is missing right now, but yes I will do it with script (20 lines script, it is not much work). No need to do 10 000 edits per hand ;). Psemdel (talk) 08:45, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Santic-Wibatech

[edit]

Hi 99kerob.

Procyclingstats is a non-official database and it isn't without mistakes. For example Leopard TOGT Pro Racing is a new Continental Team, different from Leopard Pro Cycling, even if it looks different on procyclingstats. Coorectly, in wikidata was created a new item.

Just like that, team Santic-Wibatech is different than Wibatech Merxx. Undoubtedly there are similarities: The manager and Wibatech as sponsor come from the old team. But just because the manager is the same doesn't mean the team is the same.

You can have a look at the [Team Homepage]: "Das Team Santic Wibatech ist ein neues, deutsches Kontinental Team ..." (Team Santic Wibatech is a new German Continental Team ...) The team was born from German cycling club RSV Passau, wich was founded in 1895 and not in 2021. You can also have al look here [1]], an article about the end of Wibatech Merxx. And in German [2] [3] about the foundation of a new team.--Kawona67 (talk) 12:41, 25 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Kawona67: You are clearly overinterpretating sources - [4] doesn't say that Wibatech is done, it says that it is suspended - later on Wiesław Ciasnocha moved his operations to Germany which was clearly stated in this announcement on their Facebook page - the same page that Wibatech was using before 2021 and still uses! Also sentence "Team Santic Wibatech is a new German Continental Team" doesn't mean that it is a completely new team without previous Conti experience - it just states that it is a new "German Continental team" as previously it wasn't Continental team (season 2021) and wasn't German (season 2020). Moreover both PCS and FirstCycling treats Wibatech same way - as a same team as one from before 2021. You can't just ignore sources and try to bend them into your own point of view. 99kerob (talk) 11:34, 29 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
