Lion Travel Service and J&G Fried Chicken are in totally different industrial

[edit]

Hi, you might not be familiar with Taiwan industrial. Lion Travel Service is a travel agency, and J&G Fried Chicken is a food chain. I think one of the NSI editor made a mistake and due to an error on OpenStreetMap. Revert back your revert Supaplex (talk) 03:08, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
Thanks for catching this! It looks like the Wikidata QID for Lion Travel Service was mistakenly added to the entry for J&G Fried Chicken in this commit. I've fixed it here, so in the future the script we use won't add the NSI identifier to the wrong page.

Call for participation in a task-based online experiment

[edit]

Dear Archpdx,

I hope you are doing good,

I am Kholoud, a researcher at King's College London, and I work on a project as part of my PhD research, in which I have developed a personalised recommender system that suggests Wikidata items for the editors based on their past edits. I am inviting you to a task-based study that will ask you to provide your judgments about the relevance of the items suggested by our system based on your previous edits. Participation is completely voluntary, and your cooperation will enable us to evaluate the accuracy of the recommender system in suggesting relevant items to you. We will analyse the results anonymised, and they will be published to a research venue. The study will start in late January 2022 or early February 2022, and it should take no more than 30 minutes.

If you agree to participate in this study, please either contact me at kholoud.alghamdi@kcl.ac.uk or use this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSees9WzFXR0Vl3mHLkZCaByeFHRrBy51kBca53euq9nt3XWog/viewform?usp=sf_link I will contact you with the link to start the study.

For more information about the study, please read this post: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:Kholoudsaa In case you have further questions or require more information, don't hesitate to contact me through my mentioned email.

Thank you for considering taking part in this research.

Why remove NSI IDs

[edit]

You keep deleting my links to NSI id for power grid operators. Why? Gazer75 (talk) 18:46, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
Please note that maintainers of the Name Suggestion Index use a script to automatically add NSI ids to their respective Wikidata items before each release is published. Make sure that the index entries you're interested in have the correct Wikidata tags on https://nsi.guide and if necessary open a PR on GitHub with any corrections.
Hope this helps sort things out. If you need help with this or need any clarifications, please feel free to reach out here, on the OSM World Discord, or on the OSMUS Slack.

Would be nice if this system goes both ways. Not everyone uses github. If someone manually link to NSI it should not be overridden but rather trigger a flag to update the NSI. Having to report every single error on github is going to create "a wall". Gazer75 (talk) 20:26, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Gruppo API/IP Gruppo API

[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you added the OSM Name Suggestion Index IDs to Gruppo API (Q646807), when they should be in IP Gruppo API (Q3788748), since NSI links are about IP and not API. InterComMan (talk) 17:20, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
Thanks for pointing this out! I've fixed this in this commit.
Archpdx (talk) 19:47, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, nice work. InterComMan (talk) 08:09, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Archpdx Same thing for Q8, the company that operates under that brand is Kuwait Petroleum International (Q4119207), not Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (Q1634762). InterComMan (talk) 08:16, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if I point these things out to you but I'm not familiar with GitHub. InterComMan (talk) 08:18, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Same for Kuwait Petroleum Nederland (Q2423920)/Tango (Q125867683). InterComMan (talk) 10:24, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, fixed both of these in this commit. Feel free to point out any other issues either here or by opening a ticket on GitHub https://github.com/osmlab/name-suggestion-index/issues/new Archpdx (talk) 04:37, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks InterComMan (talk) 10:06, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it's me again. I recently noticed this change and wondered why you changed the NSI ID from MediaMarkt to MediaWorld. MediaWorld is just the name the chain is known by in Italy. InterComMan (talk) 17:22, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, sorry for the late reply. After a little digging, it looks like the entry we have for MediaWorld points to Q76504823, which appears to have been merged into the Wikidata item for MediaMarkt. This seems to have caused the script we're using to flip flop between the two (https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q2381223&action=history). I've updated the QID in this commit and opened this ticket so that this can be prevented for future cases like this. Archpdx (talk) 20:43, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

P&T Luxembourg

[edit]

This brand was killed of 10 years ago and integrated into the Post brand. Please do some research before reverting! This is from somebody living in that country btw. Alice22323 (talk) 18:12, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
Please note that maintainers of the Name Suggestion Index use a script to automatically add NSI ids to their respective Wikidata items before each release is published. We base our entries off of how tags are used in OpenStreetMap. It looks like P&T was still widely used in the OSM database until 2021 before being replaced with Post, and unfortunately we didn't catch this trend. I've gone ahead and fixed this in this commit. Feel free to point out any other issues either here or by opening a ticket on GitHub https://github.com/osmlab/name-suggestion-index/issues/new Archpdx (talk) 21:11, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
