This page will be moved and archived

Hello

This is an important message regarding this page.

This page uses Structured Discussions/Flow, an obsolete tool that causes many maintenance problems. It has been decided to remove this tool from the wikis.

As of December 16, it will no longer be possible to add a new topic or post a message on this page.

Before this date, you can move or have this page moved to a subpage, in order to archive it. Once moved, this page will become a standard discussion page.

If you get this message on your personal talk page, it is probably because you turned Structured Discussions on, using the Beta features page. Please check there if you can to turn Structured Discussions off.

If you haven't moved this page by December 16, a script will automatically move the page to an archive page (the format will be Page name/Flow). The page using Structured Discussions/Flow will then be made read-only.

If you have any questions, please let me know!

Hey Putmantime

There are two open RfDs by you at Wikidata:Requests for deletions since mid-June (for Q28004571 and for Q28008353). No admin is obviously able to solve these requests, so I'd like to ask for help (I have no understanding of the matter).

  • What do you mean by the provided reason "Example"?
  • Why did your bot link the nominated items by P361/P527 to other items? Can these links be replace or removed?

This should be fairlysimple to solve. Thanks for your help!

Putmantime (talkcontribs)

Sorry for vague description and confusion. Example just meant it was a development example. These items were created automatically from test data and shouldn't be in Wikidata. The links are to P361/P527 are generated from test data as well. There should be no downstream problems with deleting these items and I have adjusted my development habits to avoid generating new test items in the future.

Thank you

Now deleted, thanks!

Hi Putmantime,

I noticed you added 30 items to the rfd. Could you please nominate them as a bulk request as they all have the same reason to be nominated. Have a nice day!

Lymantria (talkcontribs)

Hi, Putmantime, Your deletion reasons to the mentioned items, just state "Example". For me that is not a rationale I can deal with when handling deletion requests. What is the real deletion reason?

Putmantime (talkcontribs)

Hi Lymantria,

Sorry for vague reason. These were essentially items generated while testing an annotation module I was developing in a web application (wikigenomes.org). The references were arbitrarily chosen. Bad practice on my part to create so many of them. I have changed my wikidata development habits. How would I nominate them as bulk request as QZanden requested?

Cheers,

Putmantime

Lymantria (talkcontribs)

Well, Some of them are linked to by other, seemingly correct, items. Could you please take care of that? At the top of WD:RfD you can find how to do bulk requests. I don't think it is necessary now.

Could you please respond to the questions on WD:RfD?

Hi,

I just discovered that apparently all proteins manipulated by this bot have seen a "protein" string added to their english alias (eg.: https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q24248910&type=revision&diff=340484241&oldid=340483983).

What's the logic behind this ? The word "protein" is relevant as an alias for the protein (Q8054) entity, it's already there as a matter of fact, but doesn't mean anything in the context of single instances of protein (Q8054), eg.: tyrosine recombinase XerC CT_347 (Q21163277).

What do you think ? Is it possible for that same bot to revert all changes related to this specific alias ?

Hello!

Like some other community members, you are using Flow.

An increasing number of communities now use Flow or are considering it. Although Flow itself is not scheduled for major development during 2016 fiscal year, the Collaboration Team remains interested in the project and in providing an improved system for structured discussions.

You can help us make decisions about the way forward in this area by sharing your thoughts about Flow — what works, doesn't work or should be improved?

Please fill out this survey (available in multiple languages), which is administered by a third-party service. It will not require an email or your username. See our privacy statement.

Thanks for your ideas and opinions about Flow!
