Reporting interwiki conflicts
[edit]Hi Zuphilip
If you come across easy cases of items to be merged, you can do this by yourself according to Help:Merge --Michgrig (talk) 13:37, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Michgrig, thank you for merging and the information. Next time, I will try the merging by myself. --Zuphilip (talk) 19:02, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
Errors in French descriptions
[edit]Hi Zuphilip Thanks for your warning. However, I see no bug in my bot. Perhaps it used to be and I corrected it without paying attention. Anyway, thanks for the correction. Next time you see such a malfunction, tell it to me, I can run my bot to correct such errors in mass.
Regards

Eine Große Kreisstadt ist nicht als Verwaltungsebene in der Verwaltungsgliederung Deutschlands aufgeführt. Daher ist meiner Meinung nach instance of (P31) sinnvoller als P132 (P132). --Fomafix (talk) 18:30, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
Danke!

Grant proposal about Wikidata
[edit]Hello, I am preparing a grant proposal with the title "m:Grants:IEG/Understanding Wikidata". I would be very grateful if you could have a look and comment. Ziko (talk) 18:48, 26 September 2013 (UTC)
I've left a reply at Wikidata:Interwiki_conflicts#Informatik_.28Q21198.29.2Fcomputer_science_.28Q4027615.29.
Can you see if you can manage to restore these interwiki links? I'm a bit busy at the moment, myself. Cheers, —Ruud 18:35, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
- Done --Zuphilip (talk) 20:38, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
Country items
[edit]Hi, what is the reasoning behind adding P17 to country items, e.g. this edit? It seems quite redundant... Thanks, SPQRobin (talk) 04:12, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
- I was fulfilling a bot request for adding a self-link to sovereign states and there was a discussion about the issue on the talk page of P17 months ago. Okay? --Zuphilip (talk) 10:34, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the info. (It's a bit unfortunate that we can't add hidden comments to explain such things, as is possible on a normal wiki.) SPQRobin (talk) 14:07, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Is there a tool to count the instances for each class? User:Zuphilip/temp looks like listing such count values. Androoox (talk) 05:47, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
- I used a combination of tools: WikidataQuery API, Notepad++ (texteditor) for converting the API output as CSV, Excel -> Pivot tables. Let me know if I should explain one of the steps in more details. Do you have something concrete in mind? --Zuphilip (talk) 08:29, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

Do you still need to use this template for anything? Or was it blanked on purpose, so no one can use it? TeleComNasSprVen (talk) 11:12, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
- TeleComNasSprVen: No, I don't need this template. Actually, I was testing some ideas, but at the moment I don't have time and I guess it was also the wrong place for a test. Should we change the page somehow? --Zuphilip (talk) 20:42, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
- Well, we can usually conduct these tests on subpages in our userspace or at Wikidata:Sandbox, unless of course it requires calling some Lua module onto templatespace which does not work with the other two options. In that case, I suppose we should create some sort of Template:Sandbox for everyone to be able to experiment with the template code, or offer some better way to go about it than using "Template:<templatename>/sandbox" as our current setup. I'm not sure what you mean by 'change the page somehow'? It's your template, so you can do with it whatever you want, really. TeleComNasSprVen (talk) 23:56, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
- I don't need the template page and it is not needed to "reserve" the URI somehow. Thus, if you or someone else want to create something on that page, please go on. IMO we can keep the page as it is now, but your first question was "Or was it blanked on purpose, so no one can use it?". Is there a technical barrier I somehow created and maybe should change? And, yes some other tests I will create in different spaces. --Zuphilip (talk) 11:17, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
--Hubertl (talk) 19:33, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
- User:Hubertl - Just looking at the first random edit by you that I could find. Where is the source for [1], an edit which can lead to deletion of an item as compared with Zuphilip's edit which only added a statement. Tamawashi (talk) 03:39, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
Just visiting wikidata after a long time, and hey I have some messages like this one! Maybe, I was longer away than I thought, because I cannot remember that bashing users was so usual in the "old days". User:Hubertl: To answer your first question: You can look at my statistics (e.g. deleted edits) which I guess is still quite okay. To answer your second question: I was working in the country subdivision task for Austria see also discussion page. Yes, the city "Wien" is very special city, actually it is (also) a Statutarstadt and "[d]ie Stadt Wien ist im Prinzip eine der vielen Gemeinden Österreichs, steht aber zusätzlich – als Statutarstadt – im Rang eines politischen Bezirks und – verfassungsgemäß – im Rang eines Bundeslandes, was ihre Ausnahmestellung ausmacht." (source: Wien@dewiki). How to deal with that in wikidata is another question. User:Tamawashi: Thank you for your support. --Zuphilip (talk) 15:14, 20 October 2014 (UTC)

Books metadata in Wikidata
[edit]Hi Zuphilip, I have difficulty inserting bibliographic metadata related to books through ZotKat: it gives me error, but it is fine with the articles of scientific journals. What can I do? Do i need to correct something? If Zotkat is not adequate, which tool do you suggest to automatically create items of the books starting for example from the ISBN? Thanks!Alessandra Boccone (talk) 07:42, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Alessandra Boccone, can you give an example of an book which does not export with zotkat? What is the error message? Zuphilip (talk) 16:11, 10 October 2019 (UTC)
- Hello! We understand that the ITA, ITALIANO, english etc. wordings were the problem, which were imported by Zotero in Quickstatements for the TITLE property. In fact we are replacing "ITA" with "it" and it seems to work also for books. Thanks!Alessandra Boccone (talk) 07:54, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
- Good that you found the problem. But this sounds like the plugin could be improved. Possibly we should maybe add the title in line https://github.com/UB-Mannheim/zotkat/blob/531bd58834f0185c7ebe4630f40b2542c4ff0a4c/Wikidata%20QuickStatements.js#L202 only when the language can be recognized. But that is simply guessing... Maybe you can provide some more information: When exactly did the error occur? I tried several things but at least in Quickstatement everything was fine. Was the error then ocurring when trying to write these statements in Wikidata? Thank you, --Zuphilip (talk) 19:08, 11 October 2019 (UTC)

Call for participation in a task-based online experiment
[edit]Dear Zuphilip,
I hope you are doing good,
I am Kholoud, a researcher at King's College London, and I work on a project as part of my PhD research, in which I have developed a personalised recommender system that suggests Wikidata items for the editors based on their past edits. I am collaborating on this project with Elena Simperl and Miaojing Shi.
I am inviting you to a task-based study that will ask you to provide your judgments about the relevance of the items suggested by our system based on your previous edits. Participation is completely voluntary, and your cooperation will enable us to evaluate the accuracy of the recommender system in suggesting relevant items to you. We will analyse the results anonymised, and they will be published to a research venue.
The study will start in late January 2022 or early February 2022, and it should take no more than 30 minutes.
If you agree to participate in this study, please either contact me at kholoud.alghamdi@kcl.ac.uk or use this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSees9WzFXR0Vl3mHLkZCaByeFHRrBy51kBca53euq9nt3XWog/viewform?usp=sf_link I will contact you with the link to start the study.
For more information about the study, please read this post: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:Kholoudsaa In case you have further questions or require more information, don't hesitate to contact me through my mentioned email.
Thank you for considering taking part in this research.
