The host is aware of April Fools' Day (Q80949) and its association with Western culture (Q478958).(The host didn't want to provide any false information as that would reflect poorly on them, the host wants to avoid conflicts and misunderstandings as much as possible)
This event is a global event. People from all cultures are welcome as long as we keep it in English or we can at least understand each other in the languages we use.
Thank you!
Experience during event
[edit]- As this event has progressed some, the host got participation from staff and was happy that he got information. Keywords of ideas he found include: target audience (Q2604680), Non-commercial advertising (Q7048869). Especially moderation (Q6888525) information to some extent in relation to platforms like Google Hangouts (Q13231451) and Jitsi Meet (Q87849488).
What the host learnt
[edit]- The host focused more on thinking about Jitsi Meet (Q87849488). Host still doesn't know if current platform has better, worse or equal level moderation tools to Google Hangouts (Q13231451)
- The two people the host wanted to collaborate with, it turned out the host had misunderstood them. Next event will be planned for a Thursday. Thursday might be the 'standard day' as the host is aiming for a recurring day and time for these events that are hosted. Next Thursday is April 9. They may also use less time, 2-3 hours maybe.
- Before planning a new event the host should collaborate in a better way with the two people he wanted to collaborate with to help in co-hosting the event.
Plans for future events
[edit]- For standard events the platform will not change. The reasoning is finding a platform with good moderation tools, better than current one.
Trivia and background
[edit]This event is inspired by an event organized in Swedish(but this event the host is hosting is going to be in English) called "Kvinnliga huvudpersoner, Göteborg, tisdag 24 mars" which roughly translates to Women protagonists, Gothenburg, Tuesday 24 March which the host(Datariumrex) attended through Jitsi Meet (Q87849488).
Using that as template the host was going to attempt to host a Wikidata for beginners where they can help new users to Wikidata to explain what can be done and where they can share their knowledge of Wikidata. The host is also intending to help users solve problems and help search for solutions to problems or questions they have about Wikidata.
Creating your own events and background:
- The host only sees positive benefits if this event inspires the creation of other events as they believe in a philosophy of "personal chemistry" and their interpretation of neurodiversity (Q2915349) which is related to how individuals interact with each other and that ie. Alice may collaborate well with Bob, but that Carol can't collaborate with either Alice or Bob and David can only collaborate well with Alice while Eve can't collaborate with anybody. If that is the case Carol and Eve can start their own event and it is encouraged to do so, although we will try to do our best for them to join our group.
We can all try our best to make the best effort for everybody to feel at home, but the host thinks that is an unrealistic goal for every type of human who has their own way of thinking and being.
The host had a plan to collaborate with 2 people. One of the two people has some knowledge according to the host about Wikidata but also other Wikimedia projects.
