Motivation

A huge classification system for export commodities by the peak statistical body of Australia. It is concordant but slightly finer grained than a similar international classification system. I'm not aware of an official formatter URL. I'm not sure if Wikidata will ever be used commercially, but this kind of ID might encourage it, especially as we also seek to be fairly comprehensive. 99of9 (talk) 05:10, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"The Australian Harmonized Export Commodity Classification (AHECC) is designed for use by exporters, customs brokers and freight forwarders in the classification of goods when providing export declarations to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, and to assist users interpret export statistics published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS)."

The structure of the identifier is sometimes given a prepended "AHECC_2017", but I think that can be left off (as is done in their subsequent columns) because it is always constant, and really just refers to what kind of ID it is.
