Motivation
[edit]Australian database, supported by Council of Heads of Australasian Herbaria (Q61802805). This will allow identification of fungi, both naturalised and native, found in Australia. And it will also allow easy naming of taxon authorities, and year of publication as qualifiers for the taxon name for these fungi. MargaretRDonald (talk) 20:10, 13 January 2021 (UTC)

Discussion
[edit]- Do you know their rationale for what gets a name and what gets an instance? --99of9 (talk) 22:19, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
- No. (I had thought it might be species vs genera but that is not the case that I can see.) The database is completely downloadable so the name variants would not be an issue in uploadng IDs. MargaretRDonald (talk) 02:43, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
- @99of9: There can be a single form and I have now corrected the proposal. (Very strange, but the proposal is now correct) MargaretRDonald (talk) 08:56, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
- Support thanks, this looks nicer. --99of9 (talk) 02:04, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

- @99of9, Pintoch: Is this sufficient support for this to happen? Who should I notify? MargaretRDonald (talk) 14:21, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
- WikiProject Taxonomy has more than 50 participants and couldn't be pinged. Please post on the WikiProject's talk page instead. There are just 1073 taxon names in the fungi kingdom which are wikidata items and just 600 enwiki articles. It would be good to get a move on with this proposal and the lichen id proposal, as both these databases are entirely downloadable and immediately the properties are created, I hope to get the majority of the these ids and their corresponding wikidata items up.
