Motivation

In de:WP we have lists of all Wiener Gemeindebauten, e.g. de:Liste der Wiener Gemeindebauten/Margareten and for some prominent objects even individual articles, e.g. de:Reumannhof. The requested ID allows to link to the external descriptions of Wiener Wohnen, which contain quite useful information about each building (architecture, history, associated works of art). In Commons there is template Wiener Wohnen, which can be transformed to use the QID instead of the external ID. In general we can replace the external ID by a QID, which gives us more flexibility when the external IDs are changed. Herzi Pinki (talk) 22:53, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    •  Questions posed Still totally in favour, I just want to share a finding: Today, I looked a bit at the data of this WienerWohnen Database and there is also a PDF data sheet available. E.g. Karl-Marx-Hof's HTML entry and PDF entry. The PDF seems to have an ID as well, which is different to the HTML one. The thing is, that the PDF data sheet is linked with wien.gv.at/Stadtplan and as it seems, not every Gemeindebau has a HTML entry as I found out with e.g Pillergasse 6, which is managed externally.       I know about the pdf, but preferred html when chosing the number. The contents are mainly (as far as I checked) the same. Did not stumble across cases like Pillergasse 6. I also did not find a mapping from one number to the other. Currently everything is based on the html-number (in lists, in templates), thus the proposal is also based on this number. I could not find the map link in the pdf, it is only in the html version. Another reason to chose the later. --Herzi Pinki (talk) 06:22, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I found this case and wanted to bring it up, as I thought it's worth for consideration, but I also think that the html-link is the much better solution in this case, as everything is built on it here already. @Rosso Robot, Pamputt: as far as I do understand: formatter https://www.wienerwohnen.at/hof/$​1/$1.html does not work, as it needs double replacement of $1 (unnecessary limitation!). Found an alternative equivalent url 'https://www.wienerwohnen.at/hof/$​1/ but this also does not match the url-Formatter https?:\/\/.*\$1.*, which I do not understand. could this be a caching problem? --Herzi Pinki (talk) 11:48, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
