---|---|
Data type | Quantity |
Domain | demographics of country or region (Q23983664) |
Example 1 | demographics of France (Q1172523) → 614000 in 2018 |
Example 2 | demographics of Italy (Q1800338) → 633133 in 2018 |
Example 3 | demographics of the United States (Q1965974) → 2813503 in 2017 |
Expected completeness | at least one value for the latest available year per country |
Motivation
[edit]Should be possible to query the death per country. And not to be confused with number of deaths (P1120) which stand for a specific event, not a whole country. Bouzinac (talk) 18:14, 21 March 2020 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- Comment I would suggest renaming it to 'number of deceased by period'. In this case, the qualifier point in time (P585) should be required. --Tinker Bell ★ ♥ 16:36, 22 March 2020 (UTC)
- Support - Given that it is renamed to something more specific. If it just for geographic locations i would suggest something like 'deceased by period in location'. Husky (talk) 22:53, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
- Comment I'm a bit worried to have another series of properties with countless values on country items. How about placing this on items like demographics of France (Q1172523) ? --- Jura 13:24, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
- Why not but would it be possible for an wikiarticle of country X to search that number ?Bouzinac 💬●✒️●💛 15:10, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
- Do we currently have that type of data in country articles? If needed, you could add an item-based property "demographics of topic", similar to economy of topic (P8744). --- Jura 13:57, 13 February 2021 (UTC)

- Oppose I would prefer to reuse number of deaths (P1120), I don't see a good reason to have two different properties. Franzsimon (talk) 13:30, 24 July 2020 (UTC)
- number of deaths (P1120) is for specific event : https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q3091167#P1120 = 6 deaths in this event. Whilst the new property would stand for countries (or possibly territorial entities) having death statistics per year. Bouzinac 💬●✒️●💛 20:11, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
- Comment How do we handle other demographic information, like births, voting eligible population, employed, etc? I'd like to be consistent with those (if they exist). JesseW (talk) 14:21, 19 March 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose I would support rewording the description of number of deaths (P1120), as there is no reason it could not be applied to a country. A qualifier can be added for deaths attributable to a specific date or period. Also, why is this applied to "demographics of country" instead of just the country itself? Not done over a year and I'm not seeing enough support here. BrokenSegue (talk) 16:38, 7 November 2021 (UTC)
