Help me!

[edit]

Please help me with...

How can I join a WikiProject? Also, did you find my first edit on Chios Strait beneficial? I would also like to learn how to edit my user page with userboxes and the such. I am not new to Wikipedia, I know a lot, but I still don't know too much.

Coderenius (talk) 17:30, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Coderenius! Yes, I think your first edit was good, adding sources to support your edit is also useful. To find userboxes, you can go to WP:UBX. You can start your search for Wikiprojects to join by looking at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. Personally, I'm a member of WikiProject Unreferenced Articles, which tries to double-check and add references to the approximately 220,000 Wikipedia articles that have no sources whatsoever to support them. To join a Wikiproject, just look for its list of members and sign there—it's that easy. You don't have to join a WikiProject to edit articles though. Sadly, many Wikiprojects are far less active than they were back in the heyday of 2007. Altamel (talk) 17:37, 23 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Help

[edit]

Hi Coderenius. What was it you were looking for an admin's help with? :) Sam Walton (talk) 08:23, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sam, good to see you here. In the future, I intend to create an article for ComedyShortsGamer, which was brought to my attention a while back while browsing through Wikipedia. I believe he has now reached a point where he's notable enough to add to the encyclopedia, if you'll ask that question. Now, currently it's a redlink, but if you go there, you can see that after many failed attempts by many different people, all being deleted, the page is now "protected from creation" (see WP:SALT), meaning only administrators can create it. If we stay in touch on Wikipedia, I was wondering if eventually I could show you a draft and you could create the article for me, with your admin permissions. That's all!
P.S: I haven't added an email for reasons, so if you want to let me know about anything you'll have to notify me again on my talk page like you did this time. Thanks, Coderenius (talk) 15:39, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely. If you get a draft together and drop me a message I'll see about getting it created. Sam Walton (talk) 15:51, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much, I didn't get started yet because I was unsure of how to get it accomplished. I guess now that gives me a perfect opportunity to start working on the draft, thanks! Coderenius (talk) 15:53, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, let me know if you need any other help. Sam Walton (talk) 16:10, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Kusadasi

[edit]

To answer your question, I'm just a 'wandering editor." I have a lot of articles on my watchlist. I examine changes. When I do so, I may notice something ELSE that the editor wasn't even looking at. Just associated with that particular paragraph or section, perhaps. A LOT of the Turkish city articles are VERY WP:SPAM-ish. More than any other country I monitor except for nearby Greek Islands! Maybe it's contagious!  :) You are right. They need better citation. I place citation needed tags, give them a lot more time than is really necessary and then delete the material. Some of it isn't very well written and sounds like the editor made it up (from real knowledge but not that accurate or maybe not that germane).

Glad to hear that you are looking at these articles with an eye to improving citations. We need you! My edits are rarely personal in nature. Have fun editing! Student7 (talk) 16:22, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I understand now, thank you for the explanation. In that case, I'll make sure I keep improving these kinds of articles and their content. The best, Coderenius (talk) 16:27, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed for copyediting an artcle I've recently created

[edit]

Selam! As you expressed your readiness to copyedit my articles, I kindly ask you to have a look at Yarımburgaz Cave I've just created. Thank you for your time and efforts. Have a nice day! --CeeGee 11:30, 5 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Did you know

[edit]

Selam! I've recently nominated the article Lake Küçükçekmece for DYK. Right now, ı created the article Dilek Peninsula-Büyük Menderes Delta National Park, It has a prosa length of only 313 chars. As I know that you are interested in Kuşadası and around, I suggest you to expand it at least 5x up to min. 1,565 chars, which mighrt not be so hard, and to nominate it for DYK after you remove the stub template on the article's bottom. If you wish you can have a look at Munzur Valley National Park for the structure. Please let me know if you have questions about that or you are not willing to expand it so that I can take it over. İyi günler ve iyi çalışmalar.--CeeGee 07:34, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like a plan, great work! I'll get it done, I don't think it will be much of a problem. However, the only problem may be when it comes to citing sources, as most of the information and websites I find concerning Kuşadası and surrounding areas are either tourist sites or tourist forums. If you know any other credible sources that I might be able to use, please let me know. Other than that, I should have it taken care of! Hayırlı çalışmalar! Coderenius (talk) 23:55, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes, I guess someone as you with native-language command of English and Turkish should contribute to the WPTR also with GA, FA and at least with DYK articles. By the way, I haven't check yet for reliable sources relating to the said artcle. I don't have also any books on Turkish NPs, but many on the US NPs. However, in the beginning it won't be so difficult to find some on the internet to get the 5x-expansion, I guess. I see that besides the long name of the said NP, there exist also other short names. Maybe, this will be helpful for source searching. The matter is not urgent, anyway. İyi günler. --CeeGee 09:15, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, you did! I hope you enjoyed yourself, then! Thank you very much, I really appreciate the support. The article should be finished today, I've been working on it a lot for the last few days. It should be quite ready for DYK at its current stage, once it's finished I'll nominate it as soon as possible! The best, Coderenius (talk) 13:22, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Really amazing job what you've done. An article written so good deserves also a GA-status. Maybe, you can work on it when you have more time. It would be a great contribution to WPTR, because it lacks such ones. İyi günler sana. --CeeGee 06:15, 14 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Dilek Peninsula-Büyük Menderes Delta National Park, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Delta. DYK nomination of Dilek Peninsula-Büyük Menderes Delta National Park

[edit]

Hello! Your submission of Dilek Peninsula-Büyük Menderes Delta National Park at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know!

As I noted on the DYK nom page, please don't let this discourage you! Not only are these issues fixable for DYK, but after they're done, you'll be in great shape for Good Article status. ~ RobTalk 02:52, 16 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Rob! I took care of the issues (which I mentioned more about on the nominations page), but the main reason I'm posting this now is because of you mentioning WP:GA. If you really think this article is in good shape to be a good candidate for Good Article, then I am overwhelmed. I didn't think my contributions to the article would bring this to even a C-class, much less a Good Article in such a short amount of time since its creation. If you think this is actually possible, then please let me know on how I can improve it so that I can nominate it afterwards. You probably know more on these matters than me, so if you feel you can improve on the article yourself (even if you know very little on the subject) please do so. Take care, Coderenius (talk) 17:49, 16 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi Coderenius! I've just copyedited the article, changing some words and eliminating repeated use of wikilinks. Pls, do not hesitate to revert any if you are not satisfied. The last sentence of the first paragraph under the "Geology" section lacks a ref. Kindly add one, which is needed for DYK eligibility. May I wish you "İyi Bayramlar"? Have a nice day. --CeeGee 18:13, 16 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • It isn't ready for GA in its present form, but I was saying that I definitely think it can get there with little additional work. I'm not the most familiar with GA guidelines, so I'd recommend speaking with the other editor you worked with on the article, as they appear to know more than I would. ~ RobTalk 18:57, 16 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Coderenius - As I can see that all the issues raised by Rob seem to be addressed by you. So, I hope there will be no problem any more to get your DYK-nom approved. It is expected that he makes a new review and promotes it. However, it can take time, and even it is verified, it will stand in a list and enter finally the queue. All these can take days. The time limit is only valid before nomination, not after. So, there is nothing now to be worried. Have a nice day. --CeeGee 21:07, 17 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@CeeGee - Thank you! You have a wonderful day as well. Bayramınız mübarek, Coderenius (talk) 23:37, 17 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

While I agree that IDoH could have waited a little more than 6 minutes to nominate the article for deletion, it might be best in future to work in your sandbox and move the article over when you've demonstrated notability first next time :) Sam Walton (talk) 21:49, 19 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
And so I have moved the article to my user subdirectory for improvement. Thank you for the advice, my friend, Coderenius (talk) 22:35, 19 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi! Very nice of you for reviweing my last DYK-nom. Thanks so much indeed. Pls be remembered that you better save your QPQ-credit for use after your 5th DYK-nom, because it's not required before, and it's very valuable. Have a nice day! --CeeGee 04:55, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Fact check

[edit]

I was having problems with one sentence and struggled with reworking it. I think I found a solution, except that I wanted to check with you that I did not introduce a factual error. Am I correct that it's a north-south division between the two sides of the peninsula?--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 21:22, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Fuhghettaboutit: Yes, that is correct, there is no issue with that copy edit. Thank you, I have yet to take a look at the other ones, but I'm sure they're great as well. The best, Coderenius (talk) 21:32, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

İzmir to FA

[edit]

Hi Coderenius! Would you ever consider to elevate the status of Izmir to WP:FA when you have more time? I guess it would be great. Happy editing. --CeeGee 06:01, 31 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@CeeGee: Hello! I would love to, but to be honest time is something that's quickly running out for me. My school begins on August 24, and I will be on vacation from August 10 to August 15. I also have exams that I am studying for and will take before then, and once school starts my activity may be very limited compared to my current capacity. I will try my best to improve the article with what's already there after I'm done with Özdere, but I just wanted to let you know. Thank you, and the best, Coderenius (talk) 16:59, 31 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi Coderenius I wanted to remind you that Augus 4 for the DYK-nom of Özdere if you would intend to do so. In that case, refs are lacking. I wanted to let you know because you did a great work and it deserves to be mentioned on the Main Page. Happy editing. --CeeGee 15:06, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@CeeGee: Hey there! Yes, I intend for it to be finished on either the 5th or the 6th and nominate it for DYK on the 7th. Have a wonderful day, Coderenius (talk) 15:08, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Your expansion began on July 28, and DYK allows only 7 days for eligibility, making August 4 the last day for you. Pls pay attention to that limit. Best. --CeeGee 15:18, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@CeeGee: Oh, yes, I overlooked that. Thank you. However, I used the DYK check and it says expansion begun on the 29th, making the 5th the last day. Therefore, it will be finished on the fifth. Thank you! Coderenius (talk) 15:25, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Özdere

[edit]

Hİ! Maybe a suggestion about images. It's common for settlement articles that in the infobox a panoramic view (or skyline) image is included. You can replace File:The Aegean, seen from a hill in Izmir.jpg with File:Özdere Panorama.jpg, which is also a good image. However, the replaced image must be existent in the article and so be relocated anywhere in the article in this case because this image is part of the DYK-hook and DYK rules require that. Cheers. --CeeGee 07:13, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@CeeGee, Samwalton9, Nedim Ardoğa, BU Rob13, Student7, Altamel, and Nub Cake: @Fuhghettaboutit: I am just about to begin my educational pursuits (or in other words, start school). I have left notices on my user and talk pages and unfortunately, I will not be able to make nearly as many contributions nor be able to communicate with my fellow contributors as much. Thank you (all) so much for helping me reach this point in Wikipedia, and not to worry! I will definitely try to keep the article contributions coming, including nominating Özdere for WP:GA. Cheers! Coderenius () 14:25, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Da 2nd Phaze, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Wiley. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi. I was wondering if you'd be interested in setting up Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Turkey), based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). Now it's not a contest in itself, it's designed to motivate people to inspire others to improve content and build something which demonstrates the hard work going into the country which is visible. The focus is more on quality improvements but new articles are welcome too. Eventually a Turkish National Contest could be created to fuel it, like Wikipedia:Awaken the Dragon, in which contestants can choose to keep the Amazon vouchers themselves to buy their own books for more articles or put them into book fund to help editors further improve Turkish-related topics by giving them the books they want. It will begin though as purely an improvement drive. If interested, or you think anybody else might be interested, alert them and sign up on the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Turkey talk page at the bottom. Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 14:12, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:29, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited İzmir, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Göztepe (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

National park

[edit]

Hello,

I see that a few years ago you brought

Dilek Peninsula-Büyük Menderes Delta National Park up to good status. Nice and I am looking at it for inspiration. As I am working on Kızılırmak Delta and may nominate it soon. If you have any suggestions on how to improve it it would be great if you could write on the talk page of that article if you have time.
