"Reflected" is a song by American rock band Alice Cooper, released in 1969 as the first single from their debut album Pretties for You, but failed to chart.[1]

The single was issued twice; both on 7-inch vinyl. Its first release was on May 19, 1969, preceding its album, Pretties for You, which was released on June 25.

Composition

[edit]

Written by all five members of the band, "Reflected" is a psychedelic rock song.[2] It comments on the false lure of Hollywood glitz.[3] “The lyrics were stupid,” Alice Cooper says. “It was that fake, quasi-spiritual 60s thing. We didn’t know what we were talking about.”[2]

Legacy

[edit]

The band performed the song during a party scene in the film Diary of a Mad Housewife (1970).[4]

Both the riff and part of the melody were recycled for "Elected", which appeared on their 1973 album Billion Dollar Babies.
