Merge or at least mention Implicit utilitarian voting

[edit]

Hi,

this seems very related to Implicit utilitarian voting or distortion as it is mostly known nowadays. Should these two be merged or at least related to each other? Jannikp97 (talk) 14:08, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

They are both social choice theory topics, but so is every voting system criteria, every voting system, etc. I don't see why you think they're "very related" enough to be merged. — Omegatron (talk) 03:58, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi,
of course they are not only social choice topics, but very closely related social choice topics. Both (as far as I understand Social utility efficiency) are about measuring how a voting system maximizes social welfare, with minor differences in the way they measure (since Implicit utilitarian voting is usually not normalized by the social welfare of the average candidate). Implicit utilitarian voting seems to be the significantly more notable term (at least in the area of computational social choice). Jannikp97 (talk) 13:10, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
