Removed the "Rookie of the Year" part NASCARfan0548  20:08, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • "In July 2015, Speed51.com had ranked him #4 on their short track power ranking with seven victories." - please dont use the hash symbol per MOS:HASH  Done NASCARfan0548  20:08, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "At the Slinger Nationals, Majeski started 20th and passed up to second place." - The MJS "Seymour's Ty Majeski has same drive as Alan Kulwicki" attached to this source does not mention his start or finish position. Find another source that mentions all of this information
I need help with that, @Royalbroil: NASCARfan0548  20:08, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "the JMcK 63 Big 8 Series race on Saturday night." - this portion of text should start with the word "and"  Done NASCARfan0548  20:08, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "He started 27th after an A-arm broke in qualifying." - The Daytona Beach News Journal does not mention Majeski's A-arm broke in qualifying

Removed the "A-arm broke in qualifying" part. NASCARfan0548  20:08, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I need help with that, @Royalbroil: NASCARfan0548  20:08, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Speed51.com rated Majeski as its #1 Short Track Draft pick in May 2016." - again no hash symbols please  Done NASCARfan0548  20:08, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "He had 17 starts," - not mentioned by Speed51 so another reliable source is needed to verify this particular fact

Removed the aforementioned quote NASCARfan0548  20:08, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

National touring series (2017–)

[edit]
  • "On April 24, 2017, after testing a car at Daytona[32]" - missing a comma between the end of this portion of text and the citation  Done NASCARfan0548  21:04, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Also "Daytona" in the above sentence should be spelt out in full on the first mention  Done NASCARfan0548  21:04, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "He returned to the Xfinity Series at Iowa and the season finale at Homestead-Miami, finishing 10th in the latter for his first top ten in Xfinity competition." - the motorsport.com link at the end of this citation is the wrong one and needs correcting

Removed the aforementioned quote after the comma NASCARfan0548  21:04, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I need help with this one @Royalbroil:

  • "Majeski pulled away after a restart with 16 laps remaining to capture his second Oktoberfest at La Crosse in October after a tight battle with Erik Darnell." - a second citation is needed to verify that it was Majeski's second Oktoberfest victory

I need help with this one @Royalbroil:

Personal life

[edit]
  • "In February 2017 Majeski moved from his home state of Wisconsin to Charlotte, North Carolina to be closer to the racing community." - This sentence will need to be reworded to match the MJS source placed at the end of it  Done, changed Charlotte, North Carolina to just North Carolina. @MWright96:, is that good enough? NASCARfan0548  21:13, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "as a senior majoring in engineering." - mechanical engineering  Done NASCARfan0548  21:13, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "He has also been the number one ranked player in the world for the online racing simulator IRacing.com, which sponsors him in his racing." - none of this is mentioned in the Roush Fenway Racing PR piece. Another source containing all this information will need to be put in its place

Removed this source and aforementioned quote NASCARfan0548  21:13, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • It is a critical part of his career and I restored with 2 citations. His iRacing ability had opened doors for his tweat from Dale Earnhardt Jr. It has been his sponsor since he started in late model racing and it was his sponsor in the NASCAR Trucks. I saw MANY reliable sources for this statement as I helped build the article. Royalbroil 02:57, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Motorsports career results

[edit]
  • All the tables should include the scope="col"s at the columns for MOS:DTT compliance

WikiProject NASCAR doesn't do that to results tables. NASCARfan0548  21:15, 17 October 2020 (UTC)  Done NASCARfan0548  14:04, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • I afraid that I cannot accept that argument as there are multiple GA and FA level motorsport-related articles that feature scope="col"s in the columns of tables to comply with accessibility guidelines. MWright96 (talk) 08:22, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Considering adding in the key that the small number denotes the finishing position

WikiProject NASCAR doesn't do keys for finishing positions. NASCARfan0548  21:15, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]
  • Racing-Reference should be in the work field of Reference 1

Removed that ref entirely NASCARfan0548  03:26, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Help again, @Royalbroil: NASCARfan0548  03:26, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't have the newspaper anymore. I added the content in November 2015. I must have really seen something in him to recognize his potential in 2010 (enough to clip and save a newspaper article). I likely clipped the article but didn't save the page number. Royalbroil 03:41, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Reference 10 will need archiving because it is dead

How do you archive refs? This also goes with refs 11, 12, 28, and 50. NASCARfan0548  03:26, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:DEADREF. Royalbroil 03:41, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There is no author listed. NASCARfan0548  03:26, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have a subscription, so I can't find the author. NASCARfan0548  20:56, 19 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A lot to do here but will put on hold to allow the nominator to address or query the points raised above. MWright96 (talk) 12:28, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I did the best I could on this article with help from @Royalbroil:. Is the article good enough to reach GA status now? NASCARfan0548  04:42, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • There are still a number of references that need to have their publication date(s) and or author(s) missing or the dates on which they were accessed. Also his birth date does not need to be mentioned twice in the lead. MWright96 (talk) 16:36, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I did the best I could on this article with help from @Royalbroil:. Is the article good enough to reach GA status now? Update: I added authors and publication dates that were previously missing. Is the article ready for GA status now, @MWright96:? NASCARfan0548  20:56, 19 October 2020 (UTC) Now promoting to GA class. MWright96 (talk) 13:08, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi, welcome to DYK! This is a new enough Good Article (congrats!) and does not have any textual issues. You also don't need to review another nomination, as this is your first. That leaves the hooks to be examined.
  • ALT0—the first hook—is spectacularly uninteresting to people not familiar with racing. We try and find hooks that will lure in a general audience. I've also decided to rewrite ALT1 in an attempt to bring it closer:
  • ALT1a: ... that after qualifying on the pole at a late model stock car race, Ty Majeski chose to start at the rear for a chance to win more money—and won the race?
NASCARfan0548, if you approve of ALT1a as worded, then the nomination can be approved. Raymie (tc) 00:03, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Raymie, Thank you! I approve of the hook. NASCARfan0548  00:05, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Approved! Raymie (tc) 00:18, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Raymie:All of these noms are weak in wikilinks IMHO. How about a linking to at least late model and as a bonus stock car racing to give context to the reader? I propose ALT1b. "Starting in the rear" sounds funny and might by hard for non-racing fans to understand. How about "starting last" for ALT1c? Royalbroil 02:50, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • ALT1b: ... that after qualifying on the pole at a late model stock car race, Ty Majeski chose to start at the rear for a chance to win more money—and won the race?
  • ALT1c: ... that after qualifying on the pole at a late model stock car race, Ty Majeski chose to start last for a chance to win more money—and won the race?
After starting the article and doing much work toward it becoming a GA, I believe that I deserve GA and DYK credit. For example: initial diff, diff to highlight a few groups of edits. I did a QPQ DYK review of KVZK-TV since I had many DYK (all over 8 years ago). Royalbroil 02:50, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah Royalbroil, I should have thought of that; either is fine. Thanks for supplying a QPQ. And having looked at authorship, you definitely deserve credit. Raymie (tc) 03:37, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Actually Royalbroil, you'll need to have the two wikilinks for late model and stock car race separated to avoid a WP:SEAOFBLUE, if you need both of there (late model feels like the bigger need). Raymie (tc) 04:00, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't familiar with that one (SEAOFBLUE), thanks for pointing it out. Late model is far more important as it implies stock car. Royalbroil 04:05, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Went ahead and removed the link from "stock car race" on ALT1b/1c. Raymie (tc) 06:00, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi, I came by to promote ALT1b because readers who are familiar with the terminology will think ALT1c is a bit silly. But the description of the Oktoberfest event at LaCrosse in October 2020 doesn't say anything about it being a late model race. Is that really important or can it be removed from the hook? Yoninah (talk) 20:47, 7 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
"Super Late Model" is in the reliable source [3] but wasn't listed in that sentence in the article. The ARCA Midwest Tour is a series of Super Late Models that tours in the Upper Midwestern United States. Super Late Model was tied to ARCA Midwest Tour in the first paragraph of the section ARCA Midwest Tour/TUNDRA Late Models (2012–2016). I repeated it in the section with the hook. Thanks for asking for clarification and for volunteering to help at DYK! Royalbroil 03:16, 8 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Could we just finish up the DYK? It has been two weeks since I started this nomination. NASCARfan0548  17:12, 8 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • @NASCARfan0548: There's no reason to be in a hurry at DYK. We try to make sure all the facts are in order so no one will pull it from the queues or even the main page. Usually we say it takes up to a month for a hook to be promoted. Please be patient. Yoninah (talk) 18:18, 8 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
