Image Tagging Image:Bfc Rostov na Donu 01.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Bfc Rostov na Donu 01.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 04:25, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit]You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Bill Ayers. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Loonymonkey (talk) 01:18, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
Further, the reference you keep attempting to add does not meet the criteria for a reliable source (which is why others keep removing it). Please see WP:BLP where it says in bold type "Opinion pieces are only reliable for statements as to the opinion of their authors, not for statements of fact." --Loonymonkey (talk) 01:19, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit]You are in an edit war at Bill Ayers, adding an unreliable source to further smears against a living person. You will cease this activity or be blocked. Erik the Red 2 ~~~~ 01:46, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for your contributions to the encyclopedia! In case you are not already aware, an article to which you have recently contributed, Bill Ayers, is on article probation. A detailed description of the terms of article probation may be found at Talk:Barack Obama/Article probation. Also note that the terms of some article probations extend to related articles and their associated talk pages.
The above is a templated message. Please accept it as a routine friendly notice, not as a claim that there is any problem with your edits. Thank you. -- Wikidemon (talk) 01:52, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
In addition, your repeated reversions appear to be a violation of WP:3RR. Please review that policy. Editors who violate it may be temporarily blocked from further editing the encyclopedia. Wikidemon (talk) 01:52, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- You have continued to edit war by inserting poor sources into the Ayers BLP after the above warnings. As you are in violation of WP:3RR I will presently report you to the appropriate noticeboard here: Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/3RR. If you wish to avoid being blocked from editing for the BLP vio and/or per terms of Obama article probation, it may help to self-revert your latest edits and possibly promise to quit. Thanks, Wikidemon (talk) 02:03, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
To Wikidemon from Boris I am not an [wiki] editor am was not not aware of violating anything. I did not realize I was at war with anyone and I do not know where and hoew to respond properly, so I am doing it here. Furthermore, I am surprised that you call the Commentary a poor and unreliable source. I have come across the magazine for the first time recently and I was impressed by the its quality, which includes this article by J. Muravchik. I think that by not allowing this article to be cited, the quality of Wiki will only suffer.
- Hello, perhaps I can help clear this up. The reason Wikidemon and others have been removing that citation is because Wikipedia has specific guidelines and policies regarding the content that can go into the biography of a living person. I suggest reading the biography policy first, and the sourcing guidelines second. Commentary magazine may be an accurate source of information, but it can't be used in a citation in this instance because it is biased. There's nothing intrinsically wrong with a biased magazine, but Wikipedia strongly prefers information from neutral sources, such as regular newspapers, peer-reviewed academic journals, etc. I hope this helps. --GoodDamon 12:45, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for the reply. GoodDamon, you managed to confuse me. I only read two articles in Commentary, the one on Obama and a review of a book on Marc Shagal. I do not know if you read the article, bu I saw no bias there. The available facts were presented, the analysis was thoughtful, with no hint of baseless partisanship. I understand that it may seem biased to you just because it was published (assuming you favor Obama), but the very word “biased” is an opinion, not a fact. One might say that calling, e.g. New York Times a “regular newspaper” and a source of facts presented in a neutral manner is not just biased but laughable. Yet this paper is prominently cited throughout Wiki. I have never been interested–for the lack of time–in editing anything in Wiki, but this episode made me think of its objectivity and neutrality, especially when it comes to politics. Regards, Boris (my real name).
- Thanks for talking about it. I hope I'll have chance to explain a bit more, but for the moment it's good to hear of your interest. The point about editing is simply to avoid instability in the articles from editors "revert warring" by flipping back and forth to alternate versions of the article. We're supposed to talk about things first. Regards, 17:40, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
