Fails WP:NFCC#8. Reader understanding is not significantly increased by showing this image. The article has no need to show a visual association of Vega and John Delorean. —teb728 t c 00:18, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Keep This is a historical image of a deceased famous person John DeLorean and a discontinued automobile-Chevrolet Vega so it is not replaceable with a free image. The image is desirable for the subsection of Chevrolet Vega-The DeLorean factor.

It is the only image suitable for the section, and I feel each section should have at least one photo. The image shows an association of DeLorean and the subject of the article-Chevrolet Vega as supported in the text of the subsection. The image was reduced from the group of photos used previously.The image is of good quality, adds to the article, and has not been seen by the approximate 400-500 daily readers of this article. This is one of only three images known to contain the Vega and DeLorean in the same image and adds historical significance to the sub-section The DeLorean factor in the Chevrolet Vega article. - It doesn’t need to be replaced with an image; it is replaceable by the text of the section. Your argument would be apropos if the image were free.   - Keep I understand that, but It's an image that can't be replaced by another image and these are the non-free images that are considered. The image gives the reader a better understanding of the association of DeLorean and the Vega because the image is taken in front of his house with his wife. Before the image is viewed that understanding is not known or understood. It is in his possession and on his property. The text can not create this understanding. I've given reasons for its inclusion and its significance to the subsection of the article. I lot of thought has gone into this article and my choice of images.   - Yes; in a gallery. It contributes nothing to the article; it doesn't describe anything, for example. If you look at the original version of the article in question you'll see that it is blatant self-promotion and advertising; the same user uploaded the files, clearly to bolster the image of the school set out in text. Disputing the need for this non-free image. As Esteban Carpio indicates, this image describes his arraignment hearing and is visually relevant to possible claims of police brutality. However, in the years that have passed, it seems that the jury found him guilty and those claims baseless. - Keep That picture is the entire reason he is notable. Other than the fact his face looks like he got mauled by a tiger whilst in police custody, the fellow seems to be an insignificant common criminal, wouldn't you agree? The article will also be picture-less if it is deleted, which will render the article non-notable. (The article falls with the picture.) The fact that a judge threw out a claim of brutality against the police is quite irrelevant, no? Under current law, the police are allowed to beat the living shit out of you in police custody with no civil liability under most circumstances. (see qualified immunity.) (Like accidentally throwing you out a window during an escape attempt.) The fact that his case never made it only means that what they are immune from civil suit for that they might have done, but it does not support the conclusion that they didn't do it. Delete. Although I don't agree with the reason for deletion that Ricky gave, I note that there is no working source listed, and no information as to who holds the copyright. When it was originally uploaded it was sourced to a spot on boston.com, now a dead link, but that indicates that it's probably a news photo. Image is very similar to the one already in the article, and the rerelease cover is not mentioned at all. There is already the primary cover of the album for identification purposes, and this one is adding very little to the article. The use of a non-free image is not justified. You might want to ask User:Makemi, since all I did was transform the image to .png and crop it for her, but I already know the answer: she made this using either Finale (software), Sibelius, or possibly Lilypond. Most likely Makemi originally used it in the Beatritz de Dia or Trobairitz articles; why it is there no longer, or if it had another purpose, I'm uncertain. She's been inactive for a while.
