Rui Borges (footballer, born 1973)

A clear WP:A7. There are no references; same happens in ptwiki. Always played for 2nd tier clubs and has no news article mentioning his name. Reference 1 is over 10 years old and from a local newspaper where he is mentioned as an "Assistant manager" of an, at the time, League 3 side. Keep. Very difficult to search, even in conjunction with the clubs he has been associated with. The reason is that "the other Rui Borges" also had spells in Trofense, Famalicão, Académico de Viseu and up until a few days ago they were both employed by Vitória. But it is possible to do a WP:BEFORE with hits around 2000. [1] [2] is not overwhelming but it's a start and I know there are more. The nomination statement is highly inaccurate. Keep He may not have been one of Portugal's greatest players, but he is still a relevant athlete for having played in major clubs and scored goals. He was instrumental in C.D. Trofense promotion in 2008 and has had a long career with significant involvement in Primeira Liga. Comment: There are brief profiles in Thai sources covering Chonburi's announcement of his signing. They say he made 38 appearances for Jeonju Citizen FC between 2022 and 2024, before joining Chonburi.[3][4] --Paul_012 (talk) 21:19, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Super 500 tournament appears to be the only thing that has changed since Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2024 October 28 endorsed my closure at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Miyu Takahashi. While sources can be found, it does not appear that sufficient have been found for this to be in mainspace and Takahashi lost in the first round which does not meet N:SPORT either. Bringing this here for discussion and further handling if needed. NB: this was created by a new editor, and Pppery performed the requisite history merge to address the copy paste move. My Opinion = Keep the article

Reason = For the NSPORT criteria. The final sentence sounds like this - "For contemporary persons, given a reasonable amount of time to locate appropriate sources, the general notability guideline should be met in order for an article to meet Wikipedia's standards for inclusion." Miyu Takahashi is a contemporary person and she is young and still going on tournament which her last tournament is Kumamoto Masters S500 in November 2024 (last month) where she lost to someone as contemporary and as notable as Jia Yi Fan and Zhang Shuxian.^[1]. Comment - there are enough secondary-party sources involved, from The Daily Evergreen, The Spokesman-Review, and Lewiston Morning Tribune. [10][11][12][13] Whether that's enough sigcov in combination per WP:BASIC is another story, but certainly no need for third-party sources here per GNG. There is otherwise coverage beyond WP:ROUTINE, so per WP:SPORTBASIC it's likely there are enough sources for notability, even if not a guarantee. Although the article is incredibly detailed, there are no sources at all as the one source used is just a link to a website with no apparent mention of Bountalis. Delete. There was a consensus reached on the original article to not include reserve team and youth team games, this was to align with the vast majority of sources which do not include such games. Creating a second list ignores the consensus which had been reached and creates the possibility of multiple parallel versions based on differing subjective interpretations. Weak keep if renamed List of NFL quarterbacks who have beaten every team in the league and trimmed. (Also remove the criterion "beaten every team he faced at least once", which is just made up.) It satisfies NLIST, but only for every team, not every team but n (n=1, 2, 3, etc.). This is a rare achievement which requires a QB to go to another team and then beat his former team. Specifically, I would add a bullet for those retired QBs who have beaten all but one team if they spent their entire career with one team. I frankly don't think "Quarterback beat all teams but three" (or four) merits mention in an encyclopedia at all. I would merge everything above two into quarterback records. However, given the size of List of NFL individual records, and the key role played by quarterbacks in the game, I would split out a separate List of NFL quarterback records. For reasons set forth in the discussion above, it makes sense to list those who have only failed to defeat one team because that will include those who spent their entire career with the one team that was therefore not defeated. According to the Russian Wikipedia she was Master of Sports of International Class of the Republic of Kazakhstan [ru], a title which appears to be the highest honor for Kazakh sportspeople, which arguably would pass WP:ANYBIO. She was also vice captain of the national team and seems to have been considered one of the most prominent players on it. Draftify as I am struggling to find much of any in-depth coverage of the subject, failing WP:GNG. Despite the WP:REFBOMB, everything that comes up is basic coverage of either his college commitment (or de-commitment) or his transfer to another school, with some quotes and stats sprinkled in. Also, I don't buy the "routine" argument – if someone receives SIGCOV for e.g. transferring, then that's SIGCOV in accordance with GNG, especially if it's national-level coverage like we have here. Weak keep I personally don't think he should be notable enough for Wikipedia - the sources presented are all essentially "he transferred, then he didn't" and are arguably primary, and I only see one source which goes into how he played as opposed to where he signed and it's local, but the sources above go into enough detail about him that it's hard to argue they don't pass GNG. Delete and Possibly Moved: We're starting to see many many articles likes this.. Where many are half finished of players transferring around.. After seeing a few pages and this one included, it reminded me of the New York Yankees minor league players page. Strong keep per above sources identified by Canary757. That Magyar Nemzet article is a brilliant example of sigcov (and even has other outlets reporting on parts of it). Further coverage can be found in Index.hu, M4sport.hu, 24.hu, further coverage in Index.hu, HVG.hu and Origo.hu. Trouble is that googling "Pal Székely" rarely returns any coverage because of Hungarian naming customs which put the name as "Székely Pal", but googling the latter or "Székely Penge" finds some very strong coverage indicating he's nationally notable in Hungary. ser! ^{(chat to me - see my edits)} 09:58, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The Nemzet article has only a paragraph of coverage; the rest is interview quotes which do not count towards GNG as primary and non-independent. I'm curious about the status of interviews; when I check GNG, the reference to secondary sources is that they need "at least one secondary source" (which in this situation would be the latter Index article) and then says sources "should" be secondary. Then when I check WP:PRIMARY it says "(depending on context) interviews", which links me to WP:Reliable_sources#News organizations, in which there is... nothing listed about the aforementioned interviews. Is the inference here that any sort of interview content, regardless of how widespread or what source it's in, is entirely worthless and bunk in determining notability? ser! ^{(chat to me - see my edits)} 16:06, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The general consensus has been that secondary content from the interviewer, e.g. background on the interviewee prepared before the interview, can count towards GNG if it's SIGCOV, but anything coming from the interviewee (either directly in quotes or lightly paraphrased by the interviewer) is not independent or secondary. I'd say the Index article is verging on a routine recap (personally I would classify it as fully routine, as it's just briefly reporting his performance in one tournament). I see, thanks for the clarification. Well, I'm finding it hard, owing to my lack of Hungarian (I'm presuming there may be more hidden mentions such as the "Székely Palnak" ones that wouldn't initially come up on search) to find further sources. I'll just hope that whoever closes this will note the various Hungarian national sporting outlets that've gone to the bother of interviewing the subject in detail; even if not counted in the rule-based notability check, it's at least some sort of background showing this isn't just some complete unnotable. ser! ^{(chat to me - see my edits)} 10:48, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Also some here on Blikk website.[41] A google search for his name and nemzeti sport shows multiple strong hits so may well be notable in Hungary. Interestingly, Nemzeti Sport in an article specifies that there was "another final success, but not from János"... that's gotta be at least some sign of notability that they've gotta specifically mention it wasn't him, right? Seeing there are multiple Italian Ruby players up here made be look below WP:SPORTCRIT to see if there was a Rugby specific guideline. Seeing that there is WP:NRODEO but no Rugby guideline.
