This is as close as you will get to your local grocery store if you live in this rural area.
Plenty of parking, outside clean and saw no issues with cleanliness, or organization of the store on my only visit to this store.
However, checkout cumbersome with locals chatting up staff causing others to wait. Customers not able to find cash, credit cards to pay. Not an issue if you have more than one line open, or self check out.
This store passes, but I will not go out of my way to stop back while heading to OBX for supplies.Helpful 14Thanks 0Love this 12Oh no 0 - Joshua B.North River, VA150265327Jan 20, 2017
Great local grocery store. They have everything you would normally get at a grocery stop, including a propane exchange out front. Lots of fresh produce, good beer selection and the meat department has everything you need.
The bakery always has fresh bread and other items made daily. The store is always clean and the staff have always been polite. Def recommend this grocery store.
Will be back!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mrs. C.Chesapeake, VA1819218Jan 9, 2011First to Review
Food Lion-This is right on 168...during September to May it is pretty slow and prices are reasonable. From late May to end of August, the store is hopping and the prices are crazy because people pass this to get to Outer Banks...
I used to get lunch meat from the deli counter, but don't after I saw 2 things in one day. One-the guy behind the counter handling meat with his bare hands. Two-the flies are crazy during the summer months. They have the sticky tape hanging from the ceiling to get the flies. So nasty seeing that in an area that is supposed to be sanitary.
The meat area seems to always keep the selection fresh...
The fruit area has a good variety...though sometimes not always the best quality.
The bakery is talented with the cakes as long as you stay with the book. If you give them an order with no picture, they fall short on the creativity.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kathryn M.Chesapeake, VA87514869526May 22, 2016
This is the closest grocery store near my house. It's in my home town and I always have a good experience here. I am most happy about the fact that they have kid sized shopping carts for my son to use when I go shopping. He loves pushing it and it teaches him to shop. They have pretty much everything I need. The only thing I'd like to see would be for them to sell more organic produce and dairy.

The employees (most of them) that work at the Food Lion in Moyock are RUDE. I have been living in Moyock, NC for almost a year now and Food Lion is the ONLY place to buy groceries around here. It is unfortunate that they have NO SENSE of customer service. The people in the produce dept are always friendly and say hi whenever you walk by, but as far as deli and cashiers...RUDE! I think I will travel to Chesapeake to do my grocery shopping from now on.

I have read the other reviews and think Food Lion has stepped up their game as I never encounter a rude employee there, everyone has been friendly, deli staff and checkout staff have been great. i shop here at least twice a week and enjoy my experience here everytime.

Clean store with helpful employees. I have never had to wait an excessive amount of time to checkout.

Was in this store recently and after I got home, looked at my receipt and one item rang up twice. On my next trip to Moyock, went into the store and was immediately acknowledged at the customer service counter. Explained what happened and the young man, Reed, took ownership for the error. Asked if I wanted a second of the item I was already charged for or did I want a refund. He refunded my credit card, set the expectation of how long it would be before I saw the credit on my account AND apologized for the error. What a nice young man and what a pleasant experience. Reed is a great ambassador for Food Lion. I already love this store for many reasons: cleanliness, friendliness/helpfulness of associates and it's near my home.

Well, I can see that my review of the Moyock Food Lion is gone. Vanished. Needless to say, folks, it wasn't a very good one. The produce is awful, the meat selection is awful and they keep discontinuing stuff. I am done. I have used Food Lion of Moyock since I moved here 6 years ago because it is the ONLY supermarket around. I will now go to Chesapeake and use Harris Teeter and Farm Fresh. I might pay a few extra bucks but at least I come home with produce that is edible, meat cuts that I want and brands that I use on a regular basis. I wish Moyock would get another grocery store.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 8, 2013Previous reviewFood Lion of Moyock is awful. Unfortunately, it is the only supermarket close by. The produce is terrible. I don't understand why. the produce in supermarkets in neighboring Chesapeake is very good. Food Lion of Moyock has discontinued some of the brands I use and the prices are high for sub-par items. Not to mention that they are ALWAYS out of stock on some items I wish to purchase. Now, I go to Target and get as much as I can there. Some items are half the price of Food Lion. I use Food Lion as little as possible. After my last trip there, I am considering making the trip to a supermarket in Chesapeake to do the remainder of my shopping. At least I know I will come home with produce that is edible.

Stopped by there on my way home from the hospital with my ailing husband. Needed bananas for him and they had none. How does a grocery store run out of bananas...?
