Q:
Do they do half portions? So many options I want to try but it's usually just my husband and I and we definitely can't eat all of the meats!
A:
Yes! I ask for half the portion all the time when we are close to getting full, lol!

This was a delicious and honestly once of these food tasting experiences. The fact that it is an all you can eat. The combination of sweet, spicy and tart/salty mixes in the dishes, the good music playing in the ambience, the pot in the middle that cooks everything. There was no part of this experience that I did not enjoy.

This restaurants always a fun experience, my group of friends like to meet there and bring they bring kids along.
I understand it's a barbecue place, and all of my meat-eating friends love that.
I like to go because my friends love the food, but it feels like a waste of money for the vegetarian to go and eat a salad and a side of vegetables for like $35..
Yes, I understand what kind of restaurant it is, and I'm not complaining. I just think a better variety on the menu would make the restaurant a little more inclusive for big groups.
The service is usually great, barring long wait time for refills and for some reason we never have utensils until after our food is cooked, even when we have asked .Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Dec 31, 2024
Gen Korean BBQ? More like, LIMITED Korean BBQ.
Please try another BBQ place bc this place is not it. Service and food quality has gone down since I first came here a few years ago.
No ban chon served! Meats are limited but yet they priced it $30 per person. I suggested asking first what meats and items are available.
The restaurant still uses QR code menus. I seen carne asada and tacos on the menu. Like ok cool if you're a fusion restaurant, but change the name bc it's misleading.
Long story short, a lot of items we asked for were "not available " or "had to check to see if they still have some" including veggies!!! We asked for veggies twice and still did not get it. By that time I had to ask for the manager twice as well and felt like we were not priority. I voiced to, Kevin, how so many items were not available on the menu. He stated the menu has not been updated for over a year. Sad excuse. Lastly, he offered 15% off but felt like that wasn't enough.
Save your bucks and go to a higher rating place.Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chandler L.Gilbert, AZ2132Dec 24, 2024
I had a terrible experience at Gen Korean BBQ during my recent visit. The atmosphere was unpleasant from the start--the music was ridiculously loud, making it hard to carry on a conversation. We were seated in a spot where the smoke and fumes from cooking were overwhelming, and it became extremely uncomfortable very quickly.
To make matters worse, one of the dishes we received had multiple pieces of hair in it. We showed the server, and his response was simply "oh shit." He never offered us an apology or a solution, let alone a discount, which was incredibly disappointing. Additionally, the meats were just carelessly thrown on the plates, with no attention to presentation, which made the experience feel even more unprofessional.
On top of that, they were out of several menu items, and it took forever to get basic things like water. We had to constantly check to make sure our food orders were actually being put in, as everything took an unreasonably long time to arrive.
I've been to this location before when it was much busier (with a 2+ hour wait), and the service was significantly better, which makes this experience even more frustrating. I won't be returning and can't recommend it to anyone.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Hunter S.Cortland, NY02514Nov 21, 2024Updated review
Service was 7/10
Seafood was 1/10
Meat was 4/10
Curry was good
I do feel sick few hours from eating I did cook everything and did not cross contaminate
Lot of tables were left with the food and dishes sitting around after customers left
They don't serve bigger plates to have a decent meal
Save yourself a bathroom trip and there's a better Korean bbq spot at the Tempe marketplace mall!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Nov 10, 2024Previous reviewNot worth the price
The worst Korean BBQ in the country
The drinks were so diluted
Selection of meat was limited with premium purchase
Do not waste your money here there are better restaurants - Dec 29, 2024
It's about $32/person for the regular AYCE, or $50/person for the premium AYCE. For the options, personally I was satisfied with the regular AYCE. Been here a couple of times so far since they've opened. It was a little confusing in the initial visit bc there were a lot of people kind of blocking the hostess stand and I couldn't see the QR code to get on the wait-list. 2nd visit was much better, and the host was able to seat us /advise what the situation was quickly. They have a good ventilation system where the smokiness is minimized from all the grilling. Great meats, and "Capri" soju for the price point. Decent KBBQ in Pflugerville!

Although the service was very good. A soft spoken young lady that served us. They did not have any rice paper. Really? We decided to celebrate a mother and son Christmas date. We got the premium meats and only did two rounds. The second round informed us that they were out of Carne Asada. Then after asking for soup four times and they were out of tofu for the soup, but I informed them it was fine and they were kind enough to make me the soup. They did seat me by the bathroom, which I was not thrilled about. All in all I couldn't see myself giving more than two stars for this visit. What food we did have was good, but we've been going to Gen for 15 years in various locations in California and this location did not impress me. We will give it another try in 2025.

I love a good Korean bbq. This place is busy so make sure you get on the waitlist early. We joined around 6pm and were seated around 8... a little "off" from the predicted time. I love the meat selection at GEN. Everything tastes really good and the portions they bring out are huge, plus they serve with a bowl of rice. I've found that other Korean bbq places have better appetizers. GEN has kimchi, potato salad, and a cucumber/kimchi-type salad- all good, just limited comparatively. The only other thing I don't really love about this place is the smoke. Other places have vents/hoods sucking up the smoke as the food cooks- both locations of GEN that I've been too are very smoky, so I know I'll be feeling a little congested from all the inhalation. Last thing- it feels like a party inside of GEN. I think there must be a live DJ and the vibe is fun!

GEN was good just seams like it went down hill a little .
If I wanted tacos I would go to a Mexican place . Stick to the Koren BBQ .
Salad good , all the meats good and the tofo soup was not good .
Service was a little slow on drinks and forget full on orders
Ambiance is probably the best because there's so much going on and gives you a good out lookHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - A T.Rowland Heights, CADec 28, 2024
