I just moved to Pueblo and was very excited to try this restaurant. I'll start with what was great: our server. I have no idea what his name was but he was lovely. Aperol Spritz on a menu made me giddy with excitement because Aperol has been hard to find in Pueblo. The carpaccio was also perfection.
When our main entrees arrived, I noticed that the gnocchi di polenta was more like cubed polenta (almost breakfast potato consistency) rather than the gnocchi I am familiar with. I asked to swap out my dinner for something different because the dish I received was not what I wanted. I also noticed the exact same thing happening at the table next to ours.
The server offered to exchange the meal for my 1st choice (I went with the gnocchi based on his recommendation), I agreed. Instead of swapping it out, the chef came out to argue that he can make gnocchi however he wants and I 100% agree but if the menu confuses your customers and staff then there's an issue. He then proceeded to tell me that his customers should learn to read the menu. I originally laughed in his face but he's so pompous and self righteous I simply said I'd rather leave than argue with the chef. Next came who I assume is the owner/ wife of pompous man to tell me the chef said nothing to insult me.
They tried to charge us for my husband's uneaten/untouched food too.
I've never had such an experience. Instead, we left and found ourselves at King Soopers buying ingredients so my kind, loving husband could make homemade pasta to enjoy on what was supposed to be an excellent 1st date night since moving here. We will NEVER recommend this place (I took video of just how horribly we and the table next to us were treated). I also hope the two women at the table next to us were able to move on from this. What a joke!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

The dish you ordered is on the menu exactly as you are describing it here: gnocchi di polenta. You were expecting a dish that is not on the menu, and got upset when the chef informed you that you had not read the menu, though you clearly did not. You went on to proclaim that the dish was not gnocchi, showing a total ignorance of what gnocchi di polenta is: a dish from northern Italy, where the chef himself is from. He explained to you that gnocchi can be in diferent ways, but you call him Pompous!! in after which you continued to argue. It is not just to return a dish simply because you did not read the menu’s descriptions of said dish. Seeing as you ordered the dish due to the server’s personal suggestion, we took it back and removed it from your bill. You then refused to pay for your husband’s dish. Just because your husband chose to leave his dish “uneaten/untouched”, as you said, does not negate the fact that the dish was prepared as ordered with no mistakes. If you go to a restaurant and order a dish, and nothing is wrong with said dish, you have to pay for it. Regardless we voided the second dish as well.
As for the table next to you, do not worry. They were able to talk to me, and agreed you had a bad attitude towards me, and that the comment about speaking English and when you went outside and didn’t listen to the manager. Taking a video of them was also unnecessary.
The funny thing is that your husband claimed to be Italian, but was then unable to respond when spoken to in Italian, and was unaware of basic Italian foods, and that gnocchi can come in many forms.
Welcome to Pueblo, but you are not longer welcomed at La Forchetta. - D_William S.Laguna Niguel, CA27471Jul 13, 2024
This maybe the best Italian food our family has ever had! And it had to have Gluten-Free choices...it does! If you find yourself anywhere near Pueblo, CO, call ahead and be ready for an authentic Italian meal. We had the Fettuccini with Italian sausage and mushrooms, the spaghetti with red sauce and the pesto with green beans in GF noodles. Everyone was very happy! Great vibe inside and a nice back patio. It's popular so make reservations. Parallel parking in the front wasn't difficult to find.
Highly recommended!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 15, 2024
First of all, let's talk about bread baby! The bread for dipping is amazing. It's focaccia I think, soft and pillowy! The staff were very nice. The menu was a little hard to read (I'm old lol) so I do recommend taking a look and maybe reprinting with larger font. The menu has a good mix of items with and without meat. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. I was staying at a hotel so I couldn't take my leftovers unfortunately but next time I'm in town, I know where I'll be stopping!
Pro-tip: make it a date night and throw in a river walk!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Jul 18, 2023
This is a hidden treasure of Pueblo. Nestled in some of the old building on Union Street, you travel into a little slice of Italy as you walk through the doors.
Menu indicates that its gets a season update and even indicates what's "new" if you are return customer. The special was a lobster ravioli which if any indication of that dish...I would recommend ordering the daily special every time. From the summer menu, our table also ordered the Veal Shank (Ossobuco), the Aglio e Olio pasta.
The veal shank was big size portion and our server indicated that it sells out regularly. If its available, order it.
The Aglio has a kick and perfect if you enjoy pasta without a lot of sauce. Pasta is freshly made and the perfect amount of olive oil, garlic, Parmesan cheese and red pepper.
As mentioned above, highly recommend the Ravioli. The cheese sauce was perfect for the raviolis and complimented the lobster.
We saved room for desert and ordered a chocolate mousse and was gracious comped panna cotta. It was my parents wedding anniversary so it was an amazing gesture from the owners.
This is a must-go restaurant.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - May 10, 2024
What a great discovery in Pueblo! Very authentic old school Italian. Ate hear with a big group in town for a conference and everyone loved their food. I had the homemade pappardelle with wild boar ragu- a traditional dish in the Florence/Pisa region that you see very rarely on menus in the US. Delicious! Service and atmosphere also excellent!

A very authentic Italian gem in the heart of Pueblo downtown. Make sure you call ahead and make a reservation because it gets quite packed on the weekends! In the cooler weather, they do have heaters on the patio so eating outside is still a great option. They were very accommodating and switched out meat to my preference. All the times we have dined here, the food has always been 5 star! Definitely a place to try!

Unexpectedly bad customer service and experimental Italian with an inflated and fragile ego.
Basically we expected good food but we got an unpalatable gnocchi recommended by the server. When we let him know, we noticed the person in the table next to ours had a similar complaint about the same dish. Apparently this seems to have offended the chef/owner who isn't capable of accepting any criticism about his experimental dishes. If they were good, it'd be awesome but he expects us to pay for an unpalatable dish because he is free to experiment in his own kitchen? He is free to experiment but ultimately the customer decides if his dish is good or not.
The chef seems to think that because he is from Italy then all his food has to be good. So he came out very combative and unable to even listen to what we were trying to tell him. It seemed he was out to ruin our night because his ego was hurt. He kept getting louder to the point where he concluded what happened was that we didn't read the menu, clearly just trying to offend us.
In conclusion, even though some of his food is unappetizing the chef will go out of his way to make sure the rest of your experience is subparHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

Thank you for once again proving that you don’t like to read. I’ve already addressed everything you reiterated here, but I’ll give you the footnotes so you understand.
Gnocchi can and does come in many different forms, one of them being polenta, and just because you have never heard of it, does not make it experimental.
The server recommended the dish to you because it is a popular one. That being said, a recommendation should not eliminate the need to actually read the menu, in which the dish was described exactly as it was served, much to your surprise.
Adding a second review for the same instance shows that someone’s ego was definitely hurt, but it wasn’t ours.
Don’t worry though, we clearly are not the restaurant for you, just as you are not the customer for us. - Stephen T.Pueblo West, CO040Nov 15, 2024
Fantastic food! I recommend it to anyone who will listen. The service is amazing. A real gem in Pueblo's historic downtown.
