Had a really enriching time at the LDS conference center. FYI they validate parking so go there first before you do the rest of temple square. They offer different options to explore the center like a guided 45 minute tour, scavenger hunt (which I did), or the ability to just wander.
Here are some of the highlights I had:
- come on Thursday night because at 7:30pm, they let you watch the choir performance which is absolutely stunning. It's apparently a very intense process of 3 auditions and a couple weeks of boot camp (which shows how good they are). I came during the winter season but believe they practice somewhere else during spring/summer/
-I did the scavenger hunt which allowed me to traverse through the entire building. There was so much rich history and beautiful areas (for example there was art of temples in different parts of the world).
- There were a bunch of sisters who were there on their mission. They were extremely friendly and were at each part of the scavenger hunt, and started friendly conversations with my friends and I. One sister in particular, Sister Rigby, was helpful in answering my questions and offered to help answer any other questions in the future. I know sometimes people can be worried about Mormons trying to convert you but we had a very thought provoking conversation about different faiths.
- there's a video that gives the history of the temple on the 3rd floor that's fascinating also that I'd recommend watchingHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 3, 2024
This Conference Center, in Temple Sq, is the premier meeting hall for the Mormons. It has more than 20k seats. It is believed to be the largest theater-style auditorium ever built according to Wikipedia.
There are lot of missionary sisters provide free guided tours to visitors. This is a huge and beautiful building. Too bad we missed the roof garden.
Weather is super hot outside.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 226003241May 13, 2024
This is a beautiful conference center serving the Mormon temple. It's also where the tabernacle choir rehearses at time, but check the temple website to confirm (as of May 2024 due to construction, they'll be rehearsing here every Thursday for a while). The interior is spacious and you'll always find someone to welcome you or guide you. Check out the great view on the roof if you can. It's free to visit and you don't need a reservation unless it's for an event other than the rehearsals.

We attended an efficient and moving production of Music and the Spoken Word in July. Our first visit to the Center. The event worked well. The Center needs better signage to guide visitors from the car park elevators to the auditorium. Several groups spent a few minutes wandering around the Center trying to enter the auditorium. Once inside, there are volunteers to help.

Honestly, this venue is so impressive! A visit to the LDS Conference Center wasn't exactly high on my priority list whilst visiting SLC, but it ended up being one of the most interesting stops during my visit. I was roaming around SLC and saw the exterior of this beautiful building. When I saw that the doors were open, I decided to mosey my way in.
As soon as I stepped inside, I was warmly greeted by Sister Bessette. When I told her that it was my first time visiting, she told me about the history of the center and what it was most popular for. The LDS Conference Center is mainly used for church gatherings, but it's also a popular venue for musical performances, plays, and special events that are held throughout the year.
There weren't any shows going on during the time that I entered (hence why the doors were open), but it's open to the public and free to enter when there aren't any events going on. The concert hall is absolutely stunning! From the seating to the architecture; it kind of makes you feel like you've been taken back into time. I sat in one of the seats and tried to imagine what it would be like to see a live show there. I'm sure it's an incredible experience. But just walking down the aisles and taking in the view of the hall is a great experience as well. It's nice that they open the conference center up to the public on non-event days.
There's a mini museum on the top floor of the conference center as well. I was able to walk around and check out the museum portion before the conference center closed for the day. The museum features a few paintings and several mini replica's of SLC's most popular landmarks. I loved seeing the mini replica of the Salt Lake Temple. The temple has been undergoing renovations for the past several years now (it's still temporarily closed to the public), and it gave a glimpse of what lies within it.
They also allow access to the outside rooftop which is said to have amazing views of the city, but it had already closed for the day during my visit. I really wasn't expecting to see much here, but exploring the LDS Conference Center actually ended up being one of the highlights of my trip. If you're visiting SLC, you should the conference center on your list of things to do.Helpful 18Thanks 0Love this 15Oh no 0 - Nov 23, 2023
This is a really cool building to come check out with your family, and there are always sister missionaries available to answer any questions you have. I'm pretty sure they also give tours of the building, though I'm not sure if there are certain times or you can get a tour anytime

This huge conference center is free and open to the public. Hubby and I made our way to the top floor and was able to step outside for a scenic view of Salt Lake City and Temple Square. The rooftop garden is also open for tours, but we passed since it was a scorching 90 degrees on our visit. The conference area was massive with over 21,000 seating capacity. Everyone there was friendly and knowledgable.

The Conference Center is a STUNNING piece of architecture! If you ever get a chance to attend a concert, LDS General Conference, or watch the Mormon Tabernacle Choir here you have to take it.
Tens of thousands of seats, and I'm not exaggerating when I say there isn't a bad seat in the house. It's been built so there are not columns or posts to obstruct the view. It's beautiful, the seats are comfortable and not a hassle to sit in for hours at once, and there are plenty of volunteers to help you find your way around.
There is a pleasant spirit associated with this building, in addition to Temple Square itself. You'll want to make this a priority, especially coming to SLC where the LDS Pioneers establishes themselves.
ALWAYS clean, plenty of bathrooms and mother's lounges, paintings, "museums", and sculptures. Like I said, you really want to get a tour (the volunteers give complimentary ones) but more importantly try to get free tickets to one of the events.
TIPS & TRICKS:
* If there isn't any room in the underground parking lot, park in City Creek just next door. The first couple of hours are free and after that it's $1/hour.

Amazing performances always fill this location. We attended the Sissel concert and had our minds blown. Her voice was so angelic and beautiful. It is crowded so be prepared with a proper amount of time to enter. One perk is that there are never lines for the bathroom because there are so many. That is a huge incentive for me!

I was very impressed by their design of this building. Very well thought and constructed building.
They have a complimentary tour and member volunteers are very friendly and knowledgeable. Due to security, only way to tour is with the member volunteers.
They can host around 21,000 people. Huge enough to have two 747 aircrafts inside. So many exists places strategically, it takes only 20 mins to evacuate all 21,000 (if for no special assistance required). All seats have unobstructed view as the roof is held up by trusses.
They have so many oil pairing displayed, it was like visiting a nice museum. Better yet, okay to take as many pictures as you want.
I really enjoyed their roof. It was like an oasis in the middle of the city. Lots of greens and water. Gorgeous view of the mountains. Great place to hangout on sunny afternoon. Tour was just about an hour, highly recommend taking this tour if your travel brings to SLC.Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 14Oh no 0
