Linda’s 1-star review: Perhaps the most frustrating rental car experience ever. There was only one counter agent during a holiday long weekend. Hubby and I waited in line for over an hour. The Hertz app would not allow us to check-in ourselves because we were within the 2-hour check-in window, so we had to endure the slow wait. Several other Hertz employees came out, but no one sat down to alleviate the very long line. No customer service and prohibited from using self service on app equals a terrible experience. -
Linda’s 3-star review: The location is very close to the Salt Lake City Airport and great for Hubby and I who had an early flight out. The front parking lot is very small and will obviously not accommodate all of the guests. Check-in was easy after the lady got of the phone with her kids. Our room was at the end of the hall, but still loud (we heard a barking dog all night). The handle of the shower was missing its screw, so it was not usable and hard to slide the shower door shut. Breakfast was good and standard "free" fare. Ok night's stay before heading out of town. -
Linda’s 3-star review: On our last night in Salt Lake City, Hubby and I wanted pho, and we found Pho 99 on Yelp. This restaurant is located in a strip shopping center that looked worn from the outside. The inside of this restaurant was really old and dingy... to a point that Hubby almost walked out. There was one person who came out to "greet" us. He was not friendly and rude. We both had grilled pork vermicelli, which was actually pretty good. Faucet water with no ice was served in old 7-11 slurpee cups. The guy never checked on us, and we had to go to the counter to pay ourselves. $27.00 for two vermicelli, terrible service, and sketchy atmosphere. It has to bee the food that brings people in and give it high reviews. -
Linda’s 5-star review: This huge conference center is free and open to the public. Hubby and I made our way to the top floor and was able to step outside for a scenic view of Salt Lake City and Temple Square. The rooftop garden is also open for tours, but we passed since it was a scorching 90 degrees on our visit. The conference area was massive with over 21,000 seating capacity. Everyone there was friendly and knowledgable. -
Linda’s 4-star review: The Church History Museum is a free museum. The ladies at the reception desk were nice and helpful. A couple of tips to make the visit a 5* visit: (1) The reception wanted to take my purse that wears like a backpack, but when I said I would like to keep my purse, I was told to wear it hanging from the front to "protect the museum" while there were lots of young children running around the museum. (2) Make sure you have plenty of time to visit. There are a lot of information to read. If you were like Hubby and I and moved quicker through the museum without reading everything, you will miss parts of the church history story. The gift shop was good with souvenirs and unique gifts. -
Linda’s 5-star review: The Temple is under scaffolding for a multi year restoration to earthquake proof, but Temple Square is still open to visitors. We parked in the Macy's shopping center parking garage, and walked across the street to visit Temple Square. The Assembly Hall (small church) and Tabernacle was open with members of the Mormon Church who warmly greeted us and shared their knowledge. We also stopped by the Church History Museum and the Memorial Building with access to a roof viewing patio. -
Linda’s 2-star review: So disappointed to realize that the Temple is under scaffolding and currently undergoing a multi year earthquake proofing restoration. While the Temple is closed for visits, Temple Square is still open. Know before you go... the Temple will not be opened for at least another three years until 2028. -
Linda’s 2-star review: The Antelope Island visitor's center is a little museum and a rest stop. Facilities are outside. This is the only place on Antelope Island to grab additional bottled water, and the gift shop is outrageous in charging $2.50 for a little bottle. Be a tourist trap for souvenirs, but be kind when it comes to water, especially in the 90 degree heat. -
Linda’s 5-star review: Hubby and I wanted to see the Great Salt Lake before leaving Utah, and found Antelope Island State Park. What a pleasant surprise! The drive was beautiful and the vistas were amazing. We drove all the way down to the old ranch and saw wildlife along the way. Definitely worth a trip to see. -
Linda’s 4-star review: Good location with easy access. The employees were helpful and friendly. Prices are higher, but good location to pick up essentials. -
Linda’s 4-star review: Hubby and I found this Trader Joe's in order to stock up for our Teton adventure. This location was easy to find, and had all of our go-to Trader Joe's staples. However, this store is very small. Anyone stopping in the middle of the aisle will create a traffic jam. The check-out was quick. Good to see the consistency of Trader Joe's. -
Linda’s 4-star review: Hubby and I stopped at the drive-thru on our way to the Tetons. The drive-thru was efficient and fast. Food quality is consistently "Chick-fil-A" and good for a quick meal. This location is easy to access from I-15.
