Ive been thrifting for a while and was excited when I noticed this place open by my house a couple years ago. Clothes typically range from $6-$12. I purchase small room decor here and those prices are reasonable as well. You have to dig to find some cute pieces but that's fun. I appreciate that the fitting room is open and that there is a time limit suggested. People at the front desk are very patient especially since I alwayssss ask about the jewelry when checking out. Good thrift spot. Bring some non-perishables to drop off by the register if you can because they donate them to those in need! I believe Apple Pay is not accepted here so remember to bring your card or cash.

I have been going to love in action for the past six years and it's crazy to me how much they've changed. I used to get things at an affordable price and now anything and everything is overpriced. Items that look like they've been through war cost $20. Honestly, it's more of a consignment shop than a thrift store. I used to support them a lot because they help and support the community.

I used to shop there a lot. Even when they were still a little shack in Cortlandt Manor. Gradually, prices have gone through the roof, on everything. Furniture priced at close to retail. Quality stuff or treasures? Good luck. Its unfortunate but seems like it is how many of these stores position themselves now.

I have both donated and made purchases from here before. Every transaction was simple, staff always friendly. Very pleasurable experience

This was my go-to for secondhand clothing, housewares. Back in the 70s I took a pledge to myself to shop secondhand 1st due to the environmental impact on our planet I saw happening even back then. I'd always spend quite a bit, getting gifts for friends less fortunate as well as for ourselves & home. When they reopened after lockdown, their prices skyrocketed & I won't pay overinflated prices for secondhand (hence why Goodwill lost my biz many years ago). Example: pre-lockdown there was a set of vintage Czech lustreware canisters (not a complete set btw) originally on the floor for around $8-$15. Every canister was chipped, cracked, unusable. I'd seen it there every time I went for about 4 months in a row, literally never moved from its spot. Post lockdown it was in the locked case w/ an insane price- bet it's still there as not even a collector would pay that price for something so damaged as they're quite plentiful in great condition! I understand people lost $ during lockdown, many had to raise prices but this was not an item anyone wanted at the lower price! What kind of logic is it to make the price higher? I've owned & run flea market & retail stores, this isn't how to move merchandise & they have far too much but it's all been raised to ridiculous prices so it's sitting. Another example: low end brand jeans priced higher than a high end brand on sale at Saks, what??? I'm all for keeping things out of landfills, upcycling, reupholstering, refinishing, mending, whatever needs to be done but not when at premium prices for things not in premium condition. They won't be getting anymore donations either, if this is their new policy. It's quite sad as it used to be a great place to find little useful odds & ends but no more. Oh & the man who works there is rude, unhelpful- I fainted last visit, no air, super hot day & masking, he never even looked up when I asked if I could sit so I didn't faint, I left once I could get off the floor (I'm handicapped, use a cane);. However the women are lovely, always smiling & happy to help- at least it's got that still (I think). I don't believe I'll be returning unless they realise the error of making secondhand unaffordable so that buying new is cheaper. Grave mistake on their part as it'll all sit there now, nothing going to help people in Westchester County who really need it sadly more than ever.

A wonderful alternative to Goodwill or the Salvation Army, and the nice part is that they will take almost anything, including books, clothing, furniture. There is a private parking lot and room to load or unload.
This time we were containing and i did not have a chance to check out the rest of the store.
We dropped off a bunch of A+ condition items...
No tax deduction, but a chance to keep things out of the landfill and re-purpose others.Helpful 15Thanks 0Love this 11Oh no 1 - Sep 24, 2020
I hired Love in Action to clean out my mom's house to prepare it for sale. They did an amazing job at a very fair price. They even vacuumed the whole place before they left. They were prompt and efficient and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend them!!!

Donna Simone made our task of donating furniture, textiles and kitchen contents from our late mother's home (half a mile away from YLIA!) much more difficult than it should have been. We hired a junk removal company to take everything that did not meet YLIA's criteria, and tried to donate the items which clearly met their criteria. I scheduled an advance appointment for her to "screen" everything, and she scheduled a pickup. Then, with only 24 hours warning, she demanded money to pick things up. We politely declined and told her we'd deliver (despite not really been capable of moving furniture). We arrived hours later with three SUV's filled with the furniture and she told us it wasn't a convenient day!! We prevailed, but with no help from YLIA volunteers. Beware!!

Yorktown Love in Action has moved locations several times over the years, but it seems they have finally found a large enough space to house the large selection of items that they stock. Everything is organized in well-defined sections of the 2 levels of the building.
There is a staircase leading to the 2nd floor; I don't know if it is accessible in any other manner.
The pricing is "priced to sell", and so there are lots of great deals, if you are looking for particular items. Books and record album sections are well labeled as well. I have purchased some clothing there, and it is well grouped by size.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
