LINDE PROCESS PLANTS, INC.<strong>Job</strong> <strong>Description</strong> <strong>–</strong> <strong>Pipe</strong> <strong>Fitter</strong>1.0 Purpose:<strong>Job</strong> <strong>Description</strong>s are part of Company Quality Policies and Procedures.This standard defines the tasks and responsibilities for the <strong>Pipe</strong> <strong>Fitter</strong>. The standardis valid for all <strong>Pipe</strong> <strong>Fitter</strong>s.2.0 General:Responsible for various types of fitting and welding preparation, welding and weldfinishing operations to manufacture product to customer drawings, specifications,or other forms of instruction.3.0 Tasks and Responsibilities:The <strong>Pipe</strong> <strong>Fitter</strong> shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:Layout and fit-up carbon steel and/or alloy steel based on constructiondrawings. Aluminum is a mandatory alloy.Workmanship must meet Company standards for quality including radiographicrepair rate.Productivity level must consistently equal the Company’s established productivityrequirements, as defined by work instructions.Follow LPP safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Safety Manual.4.0 Education and Experience Required:Successful completion of GMAW weld test.Two year applicable fitting and welding experience.5.0 Skills Required:Perform welding assignments with minimal supervision.Knowledge of wire and filler materials applications for various steel alloys,aluminum, and some exotic materials.Working knowledge of fixturing and weld set up parameters (amps, volts, etc)Use conventional and precision measuring instruments.Proficient in assigned welding techniques.Knowledge of welding equipment.Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools.Read isometric spool drawings, lay out, fit-up and tack pipe spools.Page 1 of 2 <strong>Job</strong> <strong>Description</strong> <strong>–</strong> Class A <strong>Pipe</strong> <strong>Fitter</strong> Created: 01/26/06
