6세대 BMW 7시리즈는 BMW G11(정상형)과 BMW G12(장륜형) 명품 살롱으로 구성됐다. G11/G12 세대는 2015년부터 BMW가 생산해 왔으며, G11로 통칭되는 경우가 많다.

G11은 2015년 6월 10일 뮌헨 BMW 본사에서 공개됐다.[4] 2015년 독일 국제 모터쇼에서 공식 공개가 이뤄졌다. 이번 7시리즈 세대는 BMW가 CLAR 플랫폼을 기반으로 한 첫 자동차 라인업이다.[5] CLAR 플랫폼은 BMW i 모델에 처음 도입된 기술, 즉 탄소섬유보강 폴리머를 구조 섀시 부품으로 도입하는 기술을 채택하고 있다. 롱 휠베이스 자동차에는 모델명에 'L'자가 표기돼 있다.[6]

BMW가 미래 모든 자동차 모델에 플러그인 하이브리드 차종을 도입하는 전략의 일환으로 2016년 하이브리드 파워트레인은 740e와 740Le로 일반형 및 롱휠베이스 모델을 이용할 수 있었다.[7][8]

BMW는 2022년 1월 18일 신형 한정판 M760Li xDrive를 '더 파이널 V12'로 발표했는데,[9] 이름에서 알 수 있듯이 V-12엔진을 장착한 BMW 시리즈 마지막 생산 차량이 될 것이다.[9] 미국만을 위해 지어진, 단지 12개의 예만 대중에게 팔리게 될 것이다.[9] BMW는 최종 V12 구매 초청으로 V-12 BMW 소유 이력이 있는 기존 구매자에게 접근할 계획이다.[9]

개발 및 출시

신형 BMW 7시리즈의 국제 출시는 독일 프랑크푸르트 암메인에 있는 2015년 국제자동차-아우스텔룽에서 있었다. 2015년 9월 개최. 수석 외부 디자이너는 네이더 파히히자데이다.[10]

짧은 휠베이스 모델과 긴 휠베이스 모델의 각각의 코드네임인 G11과 G12는 모듈형 BMW CLAR(클러스터 아키텍처) 플랫폼을 기반으로 한 최초의 승용 BMW 차량이다.[16]

7시리즈의 조수석 셀은 탄소섬유보강 폴리머(CFRP), 인장강 및 알루미늄으로 제작되어 연석 중량을 낮추고 무게중심을 낮추고 50/50 차축 하중 분배를 유지한다. CFRP를 사용하면 강철과 알루미늄보다 가벼워져 중량을 줄일 수 있다. CFRP는 충격력을 분산시켜 재료의 변형을 방지할 수 있어 비틀림 강성이 높아지기 때문에 높은 조향력에 노출된 부위의 구조적 강도도 높인다.[17] 알루미늄이 도어, 부트 리드, 브레이크 시스템, 휠 허브 및 리어 서스펜션 암에 적용되어 중량 및 하중량을 더욱 감소시켰다. G11의 체중은 이전의 체중에 비해 전체적으로 40kg이 덜 나간다.[18]

전면은 그릴 셔터를 내장한 대형 시그니처 신장 그릴이 특징이며, 엔진 베이로의 공기 흐름이 증가해야 열리며, 이 과정에서 공기역학적 드래그가 감소한다. 휠 하우징의 난류를 줄이는 전면 휠 아치 뒤쪽의 공기 개구부와 함께 드래그 계수가 0.24로 감소했다.[19]

기존 모델의 표준 셀프 레벨링 에어 서스펜션은 환경에 따라 댐핑을 자동으로 조정할 수 있는 전자 제어식 쇼크 업소버로 양쪽 차축에 에어 스프링을 장착해 재작업했다. 능동형 안티롤 시스템은 댐퍼 반응 시간을 개선하는 전기 유압 액추에이터와 함께 선택적으로 사용할 수 있다. 최초로 일체형 액티브 스티어링으로 판매되는 4륜 스티어링도 4륜 구동 모델에 탑재됐다.[20]

장비

실내

2차 제어용 iDrive 운영 체제는 이제 기존의 제어 휠, 터치스크린, 음성 명령으로부터[21] 사용자 입력을 수신하고 3D 스캐너를 통해 제스처를 인식할 수 있다. 개별 기능으로 제스처 동작을 저장하는 것도 가능하다.

주차 시스템은 다수의 레이더 센서와 후면의 스테레오 카메라를 사용하여 주차 기동을 독립적으로 실행할 수 있고 디지털 키 리모컨으로 작동할 수 있도록 BMW 7 시리즈를 위한 다수의 첨단 운전자 보조 시스템이 자체 또는 부분적으로 작동하도록 재작업되었다. 크루즈 컨트롤 드라이버 어시스트는 속도 제한을 인식할 수 있으며 그에 따라 차량의 속도를 조정할 수 있다. 차선 주행 보조 장치는 측면 또는 후방 충돌 가능성을 운전자에게 경고한다. 또한 차선 표시와 교통량을 감지할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 조향 반응성을 변경하여 운전 편의성을 개선할 수 있다.[22]

모든 모델에는 M 성능 부품을 장착할 수 있다. 부품은 검은색 그릴, 카본 파이버 미러, 사이드 스커트, 페이스리프트 모델용 스포츠 브레이크 등이다.

엔진

파워트레인 라인업은 4.4L V8 엔진과 BMW의 모듈식 B-시리즈 엔진 아키텍처의 엔진 3개(휘발유 및 디젤 형태의 3.0L 인라인 6개 엔진 2개,[23][24] 가솔린 버전으로 지정된 하이브리드 모델을 포함한 2.0L 인라인 4개 엔진 740e/740Le 또는 730i/730Li)로 구성된다. 초기에는 각 모델마다 4륜 구동장치를 장착할 수 있으며 8단 스테프트로닉 ZF 자동변속기와 결합되어 있다. 750i/750Li, 740i/740Li, 740d/740Ld 및 750d/750Ld 모델은 4륜 구동 옵션 xDrive와 함께 선택적으로 사용할 수 있다. 변속기는 선택적으로 위성 내비게이션 시스템과 연동하여 변속기에 지리적 데이터를 제공하여 현재의 주행 조건에 따라 변속 타이밍을 조정할 수 있다.

G11은 740e iPerformance라고 불리는 플러그인 하이브리드 모델을 특징으로 한 최초의 7 시리즈 세대다. 이 새로운 모델은 750i 기반 마일드 하이브리드에서 2014년 LCCI(Life-Cycle Impulse) 이후 변종인 740i 기반 풀 하이브리드 모델로 진화했던 다소 저조한 액티브하이브리드 7을 효과적으로 대체한다. 740e는 BMW i 하위 브랜드의 멤버가 아닌 BMW iPerformance 자동차로 판매되고 있다.[25][26][27]

740e/740Le iPerformance

2016년 2월 BMW는 2016년 7월부터 모든 BMW 플러그인 하이브리드 차량에 부여하기로 한 'iPerformance' 모델 지정 도입을 발표했다. BMW i에서 BMW 핵심 브랜드로의 기술이전을 가시적으로 보여주는 지표를 제공하는 것이 목적이다. 새로운 명칭은 최신 BMW 7시리즈의 플러그인 하이브리드 차종에 우선 적용되며, BMW 740e iPerformance는 이러한 플러그인 하이브리드의 첫 번째 모델이다.[32]

BMW 740e iPerformance

740e iPerformance는 2016 제네바 국제 모터쇼에서 BMW M760Li xDrive 신모델과 BMW i8 프로토닉 레드 에디션 스페셜 에디션 모델과 함께 공개됐다.[32] 740e iPerformance의 판매는 2016년 7월에 독일에서 시작되었다.[33]

740e iPerformance는 BMW X5 xDrive40e 플러그인 하이브리드 드라이브트레인과 동일한 드라이브트레인이 특징이며, 전전기 범위는 25mi(40km)로, 신유럽 주행 사이클(NEDC) 하에서는 모두 xDrive 버전에서 23mi(37km)로 떨어진다.[34] EPA 시험 주기에 따르면, 전전기 범위는 14 mi(23 km)의 정격을 받았다. EPA에 따르면 740호는 처음 14마일 동안 일부 휘발유를 태우므로 실제 전체 전기 범위는 0~14마일(0~23km)이다.[35]

740e iPerformance는 터보차지 190kW(255hp) 2.0리터의 4기통 가솔린 엔진과 전기 모터를 결합하여 240kW(322hp)의 출력과 400N⋅m(295lbft)의 토크를 산출한다.[36] BMW의 오토 eDrive 기능은 운전자가 차의 작동 방식을 선택할 수 있게 하고 순수 전기 주행과 성능을 위한 모드를 특징으로 한다. 운전자는 또한 일반적인 Eco Pro, 컴포트 및 스포츠 모드에서 선택할 수 있다. 740e는 가정용 소켓에서 4시간 이내에 충전할 수 있으며, 벽면 충전기에서 3시간 이내에 충전할 수 있다.[34] 모든 모델에는 8단 자동 변속기가 표준 장착된다. 740e는 5.6초 이내에 시속 100km(62mph)로 전력질주할 수 있으며, xDrive 모델은 0.1초 느리고 xDrive 모델은 0.1초 더 빠름.[34]

NEDC 시험의 공식 연비 수치는 134.5 mpg‑imp(2.100 L/100 km, 112.0 mpg‑US)이며 CO2 배출량은 49g/km이다. 740e는 표준 및 롱 휠베이스 형태와 4륜 구동 xDrive 변형 모델로도 사용할 수 있다. 4륜 구동 변화에서 740e는 122.8mpg‑imp(2.300L/100km, 102.3mpg‑US)을 반환하고 53g/km의 CO를2 방출한다.[34] EPA 시험 사이클에 따라 BMW 740e xDrive iPerformance는 도시/고속도로 연비 등급이 갤런당 64마일(MPG-e)(3.7 L/100km)이며, 이는 에너지 소비량 52 kWh/100 mi에 해당한다. 가솔린으로만 주행하는 경우 EPA 등급 연비는 27mpg‑US(8.7 L/100km/32mpg‑imp)이다.[35]

알피나 B7 x드라이브는 2016년 2월 BMW 북미에서 9월부터 판매를 시작하며 발표됐다. 보다 스포티한 설정과 함께 전자적으로 제한된 최고 속도 310km/h(193mph), 가속 시간 0–100km/h(0~62mph)로 가장 스포티한 7시리즈지만 미국과 캐나다에서만 BMW가 판매한다.[37] B7은 알피나가 B7 Bi-Turbo로 다른 나라에서 판매하고 있으며, 최고 속도는 330km/h(205mph)로 구분되어 있다.

알피나 B7은 447kW(599hp)의 4.4L 트윈 터보차지 V8 엔진으로 800N³(590lbft)의 토크를 전달하고 보다 고급스러운 인테리어를 구현했다. 2016 제네바 모터쇼에서 공개됐다.

2019년 2월 11일 페이스리프트 모델이 공개됐다. 엔진의 파워 밴드가 개선되어 현재 최대 800 N fromm(590lbft)의 토크를 2,000rpm에서 사용할 수 있으며 447 kW(599 hp)의 출력이 5,500 - 6,500rpm 사이에서 가능하다.[38] 0~100km/h(62mph)의 가속은 3.6초 만에 달성되는 반면 330km/h(205mph)의 최고 속도는 현재 전 세계적으로 무제한이다.[38] 2019 제네바 모터쇼에서 공개 소개가 이뤄졌고 7월 중 배송이 시작됐다.[39]

M760Li xDrive

M760Li xDrive는 7시리즈의 탑 트림이다. 2016년 2월 공개돼 2016 제네바 모터쇼에서 공식 데뷔했다. 최대 출력 449kW(602hp)와 800N³(590lbft)의 토크를 생성하는 6.6리터 트윈터보차지 V12인 BMW N74B66 엔진으로 구동된다.[40] 옵션인 M 드라이버 패키지를 지정하면 제한 최고 속도가 표준으로 250km/h(155mph)와 비교하여 305km/h(190mph)로 상승한다. M760Li는 M Performance 모델로서, M760Li는 변속기의 변속 프로그램에 대한 M 성능별 튜닝, 19인치 M Sport 브레이크, M Sport 배기 시스템, 성능 타이어 및 표준 장착 액티브 스티어링을 포함한 표준 장비로서 표준 7 시리즈에 걸쳐 기술 업그레이드를 받는다. 또한 XDrive를 표준으로 탑재한 최초의 V12 구동 BMW 모델로, 기존 V12엔진 BMW의 후륜 구동만 하던 추세를 깼다.

M760Li는 기본 7 시리즈 모델과 차별화하기 위한 몇 가지 시각적 단서가 있다. 여기에는 M760Li 전용 20인치 알로이 휠 디자인이 포함된다. 외부 트림 몇 개가 "Cerium Grey"로 마감되었으며, 특히 미러 캡, 측면 "에어 브리더" 및 테일파이프 장식가 등이 가장 눈에 띈다. C-필러에 V12 배지가 부착되어 있으며, 후면에 독특한 테일파이프 디자인이 적용되어 있다.

M760Li는 범위 모델의 "Excellence" 상단으로 지정할 수도 있다. 표준 M760Li의 스포티한 미학에 비해 고급스러운 외관을 연출하는 외관과 인테리어의 개조가 돋보인다.[41]

업데이트된 7 시리즈 모델은 2019년[42] 1월 16일 2020년형 자동차로 공개되었다. 얼굴 주름 개선의 주목할 만한 변화로는 X7과 공유되는 더 큰 신장 그릴(출발 모델보다 40퍼센트 더 큼)[42]과 레이저 헤드라이트 옵션으로 더 날렵한 헤드라이트가 있다. V8 모델과 하이브리드 모델을 업데이트하고 특정 조건에서 작동하는 핸즈프리 주행 시스템을 새로 추가했다.

새로운 전선은 더욱 두드러진 전면 페시아와 보닛에 파워 돔을 갖추고 있다. 차량 후면에는 중앙 스트라이프와 새 리어 범퍼가 연결된 LED 테일 램프가 장착됐다. 다른 외부 변화로는 새로운 옵션인 20인치 휠이 있다.

인테리어 업데이트로는 12.3인치 계기판과 10.25인치 인포테인먼트 화면이 있다. 인포테인먼트 시스템에는 업데이트된 그래픽과 메뉴로 BMW iDrive 시스템 7.0과 함께 새로운 음성 비서도 추가됐다. 주요 기술적 특징은 도심 주행 중 최대 56km/h(35mph)의 속도로 운전자가 핸들을 이탈할 수 있는 확장형 교통정체 보조 장치(Extended Traffic Jam Assistant)이다. 이 시스템은 자동차와 카메라의 조향, 가속, 제동을 관리하여 운전자가 도로에서 주의를 기울이도록 한다.

740i/740Li에서 사용된 터보차지 B58 인라인-6의 정격은 현재 290kW(389hp) 및 450N³(332lblbft)의 토크로 지정된다.

750i/750Li는 현재 390kW(523 hp)의 출력과 750N³(553lblbft)의 토크를 생성하는 M850i와 동일한 엔진 향상 기능을 공유한다. 750i/750Li의 후륜 구동 옵션이 단종되어 740i/740Li 모델 중 유일하게 후륜 구동 옵션을 선택할 수 있게 되었다.

740e/740Le 하이브리드 모델은 업데이트된 745e/745Le iPerformance를 위해 단종되었다. 745e/745Le iPerformance는 X5 xDrive45e와 공유되는 터보차지 인라인-6 엔진을 사용한다. 전기 모터와 결합한 신형 엔진은 290kW(389hp)의 출력과 599N³(442lbft)의 토크를 발생시킨다. 전기 모터에는 전기 레인지를 늘리기 위해 새로운 12kWh 배터리 팩이 사용된다.

M760Li xDrive는 미국 모델의 경우 850N³(627lbft)로 토크의 혜택을 받았지만 엔진 출력 감소를 447kW(599hp)로 파악했다. 유럽 모델의 엔진은 430 kW(577 hp)의 출력을 낸다.

업데이트된 7 시리즈 모델은 2019년 4월에 판매되기 시작했다.[43][44]

말레이시아에서 페이스리프트 7 시리즈 745Le는 740Le로 알려져 있다.[45]

태국에서는 730Ld, 745Le xDrive, M760Li xDrive가 제공된다.[46]

생산

G11은 독일 BMW그룹 공장 딩골핑에서 생산된다. 인도네시아 자카르타와 라용 BMW 태국 공장에서 완벽한 녹다운[47](CKD) 조립이 이뤄진다.[48] 인도에서도 첸나이 BMW그룹 공장에서 생산된다.[49]

2016년 7시리즈는 IEEE 스펙트럼에 의해 2016년 10대 기술 자동차에 선정되었다.[50]
