마데라 고등학교(Madera High School)는 캘리포니아 주 마데라 시 중심부의 산 호아킨 밸리 시에 있는 최초의 학교 및 독창적인 고등학교로 1894년 이래 학생들을 대상으로 서비스를 제공하고 있다. 학교 색깔은 왕실 블루&화이트고 마스코트는 코요테다.[4]

역사

마데라 고등학교의 배치는 몇 년 동안 바뀌었다. 원래, 벽돌 학교 건물은 MHS 역할을 했다; 이것은 1900년대 초에 화재로 소실되었다. 1907년에 "메인 빌딩"이라는 별명을 가진 비슷하게 생긴 벽돌 건물이 새로 지어졌다. 곧, 더 많은 건물들이 나타나기 시작했다. 1976년 "메인빌딩"이 지진 기준에 맞지 않아 철거되었는데, 그 건물이 있던 지역은 현재 "더 핏"으로 알려져 있고 점심시간 활동의 중심지 역할을 하고 있다. 2000년경에는 학교의 현재 배치가 완료되었다. 2004년에는 본관 건물이 새롭게 단장되었고, 2006년에는 학교 대부분이 그 뒤를 따랐다.

그 학교의 원래 색깔은 보라색과 흰색이었다. 1949년 제2차 세계 대전 이후 자주색이 희박해지면서 현재의 왕실 블루&화이트 배색으로 바뀌었다.

1902년부터 1966년까지 이 학교는 공식적으로 마데라 유니온 고등학교로 명명되었다.[5]

1989년, 마데라 통합 학군이 새로운 분리된 고등학교의 건설을 위탁했는데, MHS에서의 과밀화가 주요 원인이었다. 1990년에 공사가 시작되었지만 1992년에 예산상의 이유로 이 프로젝트는 갑자기 중단되었다. 독립 고등학교로 간주될 만큼 부지가 넓지 않았기 때문에 캠퍼스는 '사우스 캠퍼스'로 개칭되어 마데라 고등학교의 후반부로 활동하였다. 원래의 플래그십 캠퍼스는 그 결과 '북 캠퍼스'라는 별명이 붙었다. 그러나 2002년 11월 학교 공채 통과로 사우스캠퍼스가 완공될 수 있었고, 노스캠퍼스의 개보수 작업이 진행되면서 2006년 8월 새로운 마데라 사우스고등학교가 개교하였다. 마데라 고등학교의 마지막 "메가 클래스"는 MHS 역사상 가장 큰 졸업반이 되었다.

스타디움 로드 맞대결

두 학교의 공식적인 분리 이후, 마데라 고등학교와 마데라 남부 고등학교는 라이벌이었다. 2008년에는 두 학교를 연결하는 거리에 이름을 붙인 최초의 연례 스타디움 로드쇼날 경기가 열렸다. 우승팀에게는 마데라의 목재촌으로서의 뿌리와 관련하여 거대한 '톱'이 수여된다.
