로데릭 성 플라우드 FBA(Lord Roderick Castle Floud FBA, 1942년 4월 1일 출생)는 경제사학자 겸 인체측정학 역사 분야의 리더다. 그는 런던 길드홀 대학, 부총장 겸 런던 메트로폴리탄 대학 총장, 런던 대학 고등 연구 학장 직무대행, 그리고 그레삼 대학(2008~2014년)에서 단서 생활을 해왔다. 그는 M.P. 버나드 플루드의 아들이다.

경력

에섹스의 브렌트우드 학교에서 교육을 받은 로데릭 경은 와드햄 칼리지에 다니는 옥스퍼드 대학교(옥스퍼드 연합의 회계 담당이기도 했다)에서 학사 학위와 석사 학위를 취득했다. 그는 1966년 옥스퍼드주 누필드 대학에서 박사학위를 받았다.

Sir Roderick Floud's interest in part-time and mature students in higher education has been reflected in his participation in numerous boards and committees. These notably include: president of Universities UK (2001–2003),[5] Vice-President of the European University Association (2005–2007), chair of the Standing Committee for the Social Sciences at the European Science Foundation (2007–2013).[6]

Economic history

As well as his professional academic career, Floud is a leading economic and social historian. He was one of the first people in Britain to apply statistics and computing to the study of economic history, and he was also a leader in the field of anthropometric history, the study of changes in human heights and weights. His D.Phil. thesis, later published as The British Machine Tool Industry, 1850–1914,[7] made use of econometric analysis and he soon published An Introduction to Quantitative Methods for Historians and other books and articles on computing and statistics in history.[8] In the 1970s, in association with Professor Robert Fogel in the United States, he turned to anthropometric history, publishing a number of articles and then writing (with Kenneth J. Wachter and Annabel Gregory) Height, Health and History: nutritional status in the United Kingdom, 1750–1980 and later (with Robert Fogel, Bernard Harris and Sok Chul Hong) The Changing Body: health, nutrition and human development in the Western World since 1700.[9] He has recently taken up an entirely new field, the economic and social history of British gardening.[10] His book on this topic [11] was published by Allen Lane in November 2019.

Floud has been the editor of 4 editions of what is now The Cambridge Economic History of Modern Britain, the leading university textbook on the topic.[12] He has also published books and articles on higher education, part-time students, access to university courses and the regulation of universities.
