Travelling to Germany and you’re stuck on places to visit? Do you want to have a more traditional, authentic German experience? Check out this blog post for the BEST PLACES TO VISIT IN GERMANY!
Germany is one of the best places to visit if you want to experience history, culture, good food and all-round beauty.
Hi, my name is Rebecca and I moved to Germany two years ago from Malta. Ever since then, I have been gallivanting around the country crossing off places on my Germany bucket list (yes, I have one)
Not long ago, I published another Germany bucket list and it is my top viewed post on this blog with over 50,000 views!
I know we can’t travel in times like these and I did talk about the impact the travel industry is feeling
right and the impact on travel bloggers, but travelling brings me happiness and I want to hopefully, bring some happiness to you too!
So, in today’s blog post, I am going to be talking about more bucket list destinations in Germany!

1. Geierlay Bridge:
Geirelay Bridge official website.
Hands down one of my favourite places we went to in Germany!
Gierelay Bridge is Germany’s longest suspended bridge and attracts tourists all year round.
Getting to it might be a bit challenging but it’s not impossible! Simply set your GPS to the bridge, you’ll park your car at the visitor’s center where you can get more information (trust me, you’ll need the map) and then you walk to the bridge. It’s a bit of a long walk but it’s so worth it!

2. Munich:
Munich is one of those places were you just have to go, like Berlin.
We visited Munich in January during our trip to Bavaria. I have yet to write a blog post about it but I thought I’d mention it here regardless!
We were lucky enough to experience the carnival in Munich! It was crazy but we had a lot of fun and reminded me so much of the carnival back at home in Malta.
3. Ludwigsburg:
Pumpkin Festival official website.
Ludwigsburg is known for its pumpkin festival! It is truly the perfect destination for fall lovers.
Each year, they host the festival starting from August and each year they have a different theme! The festival is held in the palace’s grounds.
Ludwigsburg isn’t not only know for the pumpkin festival. As mentioned, the palace is absolutely breathtaking! Ludwigsburg is about 3 hours away from the KMC area but if you plan ahead, it is a very easy and pleasent drive.

4. Tubingen Chocolate Festival:
Click here for the festival’s official website.
For all my chocolate lovers out there, listen up!
Tubingen’s chocolate festival is one of the most popular festivals in Germany. The festival starts in December, just in time for the most magical time of the year.
While you’re there, make sure to check out the old town!
4. German Castles:
Europe is known for some of the most opulent castles and palaces in the world!
Germany has its fair share of stunning castles. From Frankenstein Castle, to Heidelberg Castle and Burg Eltz, there are no shortages of stunning castle in this country!
5. Heidelberg:
Ah, good old Heidelberg. I had the opportunity to visit Heidelberg at night when we went out on a date night. Even at night it managed to capture my heart and made me fall in love with it.
Heidelberg is a perfect combination of old German town and modernism. You can still find cobbled streets pretty much everywhere. What I loved the most about Heidelberg is the castle. As you already know, I’m a sucker for castles and the one in Heidelberg didn’t disappoint.
6. Bonn:
You have NO idea how excited I was to visit Bonn this year! But then, the current pandemic hit us and just like all of you, I wasn’t allowed to travel!
That’s ok though, we have 18 months left in Germany (all my military families, where you at?!) and I can always go next year!
The main reason why I want to go to Bonn is because of the cherry blossoms! There is a street in the city dedicated to the cherry blossoms and they bloom around April-May every year!
I added Bonn to my TOP SPRING DESTINATIONS in EUROPE! Click here to check it out!
7. Lake Constance:
Lake Constance is an often overlooked gem here in Germany. We went in February of last year and had a BLAST! It was a relaxing weekend getaway and to be honest, we kind of needed it.
Lake Constance is very close to the Swiss border and locals there speak German, French and Italian! I highly recommend adding it to your Germany itinerary next time you’re visiting the country!
Do you have any more places you’d like to visit in Germany?
I hope this blog post helped to satisfy your wanderlust blues! The world is going through some troubling times right now BUT we will get through this!
