History
Lebanon was founded in 1871 by a group of settlers from Lebanon, Ohio. The town was named after the Ohio town, and the first post office was established in 1872. The town was incorporated in 1876.
Lebanon was a stop on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, and the town grew rapidly in the late 19th century. The town was home to a number of businesses, including a flour mill, a creamery, a lumber yard, a hotel, and a bank.
In the early 20th century, Lebanon was a center of the oil industry in Kansas. The town was home to several oil refineries, and the population grew to over 1,000 by the 1920s.

There were 441 households, out of which 30.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 8.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.2% were non-families. 30.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 17.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 3.05.
