Lone Jack Summary
Lone Jack is a small city located in Jackson County, Missouri, United States. It is situated approximately 20 miles southeast of Kansas City and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The population was 1,050 at the 2010 census.
History
Lone Jack was founded in 1855 by a group of settlers from Kentucky and Tennessee. The town was named after a nearby creek, which was named after a lone jack pine tree that stood near the creek. The town was incorporated in 1868 and was a popular stop on the stagecoach route between Kansas City and Warrensburg.
In the late 19th century, Lone Jack was a prosperous farming community and was known for its apple orchards. The town also had a thriving business district, which included a hotel, a bank, a newspaper, and several stores.
Geography
Lone Jack is located at 38°45'25" North, 94°14'45" West (38.756944, -94.245833). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.3 km2), all land.

Lone Jack is a small, rural community with a population of just over 1,000 people. The town is primarily a bedroom community, with most of its residents commuting to nearby Kansas City for work. The town does have a few small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a few restaurants.

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,050 people, 393 households, and 287 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,167.2 people per square mile (450.2/km2). There were 431 housing units at an average density of 478.3 per square mile (184.7/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 95.2% White, 0.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% Pacific Islander, 0.2% from other races, and 3.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.2% of the population.
There were 393 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.2% were married couples living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.2% were non-families. 24.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 10.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.67 and the average family size was 3.17.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 28.2% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 24.3% from 45 to 64, and 12.1% who were 65 years of age or older.
