Brambleton is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Loudoun County, Virginia. It is a planned community located in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The population of Brambleton was 13,868 as of the 2010 census.
History
Brambleton was first settled in the late 1700s by the Bramble family. The family owned a large tract of land in the area, which was eventually divided up and sold off. The area remained largely rural until the late 1990s, when the Brambleton development was started. The development was planned by the Brambleton Group, a partnership between the Peterson Companies and the Miller and Smith Companies. The development was designed to be a master-planned community, with a mix of residential, commercial, and recreational uses.
Geography
Brambleton is located in Loudoun County, Virginia, about 25 miles west of Washington, D.C. It is situated in the Dulles Technology Corridor, near the intersection of the Dulles Greenway and the Loudoun County Parkway. The CDP has a total area of 8.3 square miles, all of which is land.
Economy
Brambleton is home to a variety of businesses, including retail stores, restaurants, and professional services. The area is also home to several corporate offices, including those of Verizon, Oracle, and Microsoft.
