Valders Summary
Valders is a village located in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,845 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Manitowoc-Two Rivers Metropolitan Statistical Area.
History
Valders was first settled in 1848 by Norwegian immigrants. The village was named after the Valdres region of Norway. The first post office was established in 1856. The village was incorporated in 1891.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all of it land.
Economy
Valders is home to several businesses, including a cheese factory, a lumber yard, a feed mill, and a few small retail stores. The village also has a few restaurants and bars.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,845 people, 717 households, and 486 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,541.2 people per square mile (595.2/km2). There were 745 housing units at an average density of 619.2 per square mile (239.3/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 98.41% White, 0.11% African American, 0.05% Native American, 0.05% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.60% from other races, and 0.73% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.08% of the population.
There were 717 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 8.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.2% were non-families. 29.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 16.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 3.09.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 26.2% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 19.7% from 45 to 64, and 18.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.2 males.
