Three wall plaques commemorate the sailors and soldiers of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary and the Merchant Navy who died in the Falklands War 1982; the sailing of the First Fleet to Australia from near this spot in 1787; and the first circumnavigation of Australia 1801-03 by Commander Matthew Flinders RN, who sailed from here.
