This is the surprising moment Kathy Bates ripped up her acceptance speech at the 2025 Golden Globes on Sunday.

The actress, 76, was up for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series - Drama for her work on the hit CBS drama Matlock.

But unfortunately for the star she missed out on the award to Anna Sawai, 32, for her work on Shogun.

And after Anna's win was announced, the Misery star put on a brave face and made sure to clap along with the other stars but as the live reaction camera panned away from her she was caught tearing up her speech.

The star turned to the camera which caught her staring wide eyed in mock fury as she destroyed the piece of paper.

Kathy's frustration came as she previously revealed she was ready for retirement and Matlock, which is a gender-flipped reboot of the original Matlock series that ran from 1986 to 1995 starring Andy Griffith, would be her 'last dance'.

In September the star confessed to The New York Times that she had had to work extremely hard throughout her career but she was finally ready to step back

She said: 'Everything I’ve prayed for, worked for, clawed my way up for, I am suddenly able to be asked to use all of it. And it’s exhausting.

'This is my last dance.'

But despite her vow to retire, the his show has been picked up for a second season and its star has promised to stay on to complete the project.

And while Kathy has been flirting with the idea of retirement, Anna was in her element as she collected the prize for the Japanese period drama.

The series follows Lord Yoshii Toranaga who, in 1600 is fighting for his life again his enemies who are closing in around him.

But just as all seems lost, a mysterious European shop is found washed up in a nearby fishing village and one brave explorer rises form outsider to samurai, playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse in the tense political thriller.

While Anna's fans were no doubt overjoyed, and Kathy's disappointed for her, many watching the star-studded affair were more concerned with Kathy's recent weight loss

The Miracle Club star sparked concern while presenting the award show amid her drastic Ozempic weight loss.

The acting veteran showed off her trim frame and youthful updo on the red carpet - before joining Twisters star Anthony Ramos, 33, to present the Best Supporting Actress - TV award to Baby Reindeer's Jessica Gunning, 38.

However fans quickly expressed concern for the Oscar winner during the presentation.

One wrote: 'What’s going on with Kathy Bates is she ok.'

Another typed: 'Is Kathy Bates ill?' while others typed: 'On a side note, Kathy Bates looks like she needs to slow down on the Ozempic.

'Hope Kathy Bates Is Ok...Did Anyone Else Notice That Her Entire Body Was Shaking & She had To Hold Onto Her Co- Presenter To Steady Herself?'

However other fans praised the star for her glamorous look and branded her 'sexy.'

It comes after Kathy opened up about her weight loss journey and broke her silence on Ozempic speculation.

Over the past seven years, the star dropped a total of 80lbs after focusing on a healthier lifestyle, and lost an additional 20lbs after using Ozempic.

During an interview with People in October, she said: 'There’s been a lot of talk that I just was able to do this because of Ozempic.'

'But I have to impress upon people out there that this was hard work for me, especially during the pandemic. It's very hard to say you've had enough.'

She was inspired to put her health first after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes back in 2017.
