We are thrown into a situation of deep love from the first episode, where we are dropped clues and then realize the main female protagonist is in love with a much older man, who we come to discover, although present, has stagnated in life.
We are thrown into various realistic situations that show the subtleties in affection from the girl which draw a stark contrast to how she views other guys. The male character is very honorable realizing that issue with her affection careful to try and keep things professional between them. Interestingly enough this story develops from one of innocent love into each motivating and helping the other with their own hurdles.
I greatly enjoyed the story, the visuals, the rain, although I would have liked to see him return the affection it would both descend into something like "Bunny Drop" and would lose it's value and meaning.

A relationship develops between an younger female and much older male. (Although in "Bunny Drop", they seem to also be related and their entanglement doesn't peacefully resolve, instead dealing with affects of their decision, "After the rain" is more wholesome and emotionally mature)

This is beautiful beyond words.
It's the kind of story that hits you right in the feels. Sweet, heartwarming but sometimes also sad and very melancholic. I'm sure everyone who watches it will be able to relate somehow with the story and the characters
Don't watch this if you're expecting a common romance focused on age difference taboos or something like that. Otherwise, a must see!

This anime is just... so... utterly.. beautiful!
The animation and music are great. The character design with these huge expressionful eyes simply pretty.
And the story itself had everything I like: slice-of-life, a slowly budding romance, good friendships and a slight but very nice humour. It's one of these stories which are more realistic since "life is not only full of sunshine". The rain-topic thus was perfect for it. I loved the symbolism of it throughout this whole series. As ornehx already described so nicely it's "poetry in motion".

This is a very smooth sailing series. Not a ton of emotions, but when they do elicit them, they're rather extreme. This just means the series doesn't overdo things - which I liked.
I definitely didn't have the same experience with the series as I was expecting, but that turned out for the best. I'd call this less of a romance and more of a series of rediscovery.
If you're looking for something simple and clean, give it a go, there's no waste here.

The premise of a high school girl falling for a middle age man peaked my curiosity and the execution wasn't bad of innocent feelings being expressed. The artwork is gorgeous and Tachibana's (main female) eyes really absorb you... probably the best part of this series. Besides the soul looking eyes, Kondou's (main male) personality was the 2nd best part of this series. Even though "rain" is in the title of this anime, I found it funny how it always rained. This can at times get a little gloomy, but this romance series isn't complex and is a fine watch.

This anime was almost impeccable! From the animation quality, setting, astonishingly beautiful female lead, to the life lessons taught in this anime, it is a treat for the soul.

All joking aside, it is a good use of time, if you want something FEEL-GOOD to watch. It is FULL of symbolism and moments that are melancholy and really make you think.. This one HAS soul.
HOWEVER! Be warned, if you are EXPECTING a ground-breaking LOVE story between people of vast AGE differences, you won't really find one here. Unfortunately they take the moral high ground and it basically becomes a "...and the Moral of the Story is.." type of anime. Quite a shame indeed! As it could have expanded on the element of this anime that would have made it even MORE amazing! Alas, the final product was very refreshing and a joyous blast to watch!

Poetry in motion, like the freshness after the rain.
The premise might be controversial to some, but I think its just beautiful - love has no boundary. And beautiful isn't near enough to describe KoiAme. I've lost count how many times KoiAme took my breath away. The rain, Tachibana's eyes, the backdrop sound, the still frames, the sound of the wind blowing - its visually stunning.
KoiAme has the ability to make simple scenes like a visit to old book market, a talk about swallows, or even about Rashomon to be really entertaining. Basically the scenes were littered with profound symbolism.
The plot maintains a delicate balance between romances, dreams and promises. I love the ending, it make me appreciate our life's encounter however brief enriches each other as an individual.
Also the OP and ED will melt you away. Honeyworks + Aimer!!

I am somewhat conflicted about this show. As a simple romance, it has a lot of nice artistry and direction behind it, making it a nice little watch. But the base premise left open the chance to address all sorts of awkward ethical issues, and this show pretty much just ignores all that outright for the sake of the simple romance. Thus, it's a show with a TON of potential that it doesn't even reach for, which makes it feel a little cheap. In the end, it's a simple painting/portraiture without drawing in the shadows and depth. Pretty, relaxing, entertaining on its own merits, but far short of being a masterpiece. For fans of simple romance, particularly lonely middle-aged men.

Very nice age-difference romance. Tachibana is a 17 yr old former track star, sidelined with an injury, who works part time at a family restaurant. She falls hard for her manager, Kondo, who is in a Rashomon-like ethical dilemma: should he fall for her, or keep it friendly, or what. The essence of a conflicted romance is handled deftly and with a sure hand, and the series is recommended for those who like romances, or who want something different, or who have ever had an age-difference crush.
