Mixing boys love with hyper-violence is a hell of a trick, but they somehow pulled it off. I'm not really a fan of either, I put it on my watchlist because it got a lot of positive attention when it was being released, but knew it might not be interesting to me. I went from just pushing through it to anticipating the next episode.
Terrific story with terrific characters. Though it was hilarious that the best way the animators could depict middle-aged men was to make them a little taller and a little bulkier, yet just as baby-faced as the 20-somethings.
The Linken Parkesque music is a nice plus.

Well, that was way better than I expected. Came in for the BL moments, stayed to enjoy the action-packed scenes with a lot of touching moments.
A solid watch overall, though the second half is less overwhelming than the first.

A much bigger story surrounds the underground warfare set in a violent fantasy version of NYC. It touches on the dark side of politics, US imperialism, and the shifting power dynamics between people...
The pacing is pretty decent which makes this very easy to binge. The story stays compelling as it drives forward, riddled with plenty of gun violence which you'd expect from any mafia-based show. The mafia world itself seemed rather small, but that doesn't prevent the stakes from getting higher.
Very recommended if you want a violent and darker show to watch, especially one in a set in the modern west. I also must say this show liked animal analogies maybe a little too much lol... but hey it brings more life to the the characters. Definitely worth the watch.

If you like Mafia/Yakuza-Storys, you will love it!
Beside the dark and not all day setting,
the development of story and characters is so nice, that you can get easy with the flow, nevertheless is there a deepness and coolness of all the characters, that it is a pleasure to experience such a nice Anime.
Inkluding drawing and music it is a very good package until the end.
In my opinion he fact that it is tagged as "Shoujo" or "Shonen-Ai" is negligible.

Woah... this was a wild, dark and violent ride. Normally I'm not a fan of much violence - but this whole package was just sooooo good.
The darkness/violence contains: child abuse, sexual abuse (male-on-male rape), drugs, murder and shootings between gangs etc. So just based on this it's all about action, psychology and tragedy.
