I don’t know if the story is so warped because of the death of the original author, or because of the sponsor (Bandai) the movie has some very obvious flaws in the story.
Let’s not talk about how many new MS are there in a movie that is only 2 hours, if it is from the point of an OVA like Mobile Suit Gundam SEED STARGAZER. I can only say that the story of the movie is so-so, but if the idea was the continuation from the point of view of the seed (CE) universe I can only say that it is a garbage that is there only to sell merchandise for the sake of feelings.
Firstly, the story of the main plot is based on the idea of the ultimate Coordinator Kira Yamato, but in this movie, he is presented as a superfluous and in genreal useless person, (yes in general in Seed Kira is not very bright and proactive), but how can the main plot line of the "ultimate Coordinator" is even more useless than his defective/successful Coordinator “brother” Shinn Asuka (he was create based on Kira genes as his doctor was an assistant to Ulen Hibiki).
In the movie Kira is there just because the movie sells the continuation of the main story, but if you look in to the story of Seed and Seed Destiny the Kira in the movie is questionable and thus the main idea of the "ultimate Coordinator" comes to an end for nor reason just because.
Another absurd misrepresentation of the character of the main story is Lacus Clyne, it is all fine and good to expande the background story, but from the beginning through the story she plays the prefect actress: at first glance, Lacus appears to be naive and a bit of an airhead, as if it is due to her idealistic and pacifistic nature.
But beneath the surface as a pop star and a PLANT idol, that is kind and sunny is the genetically modified daughter of a politician, from her interactions with Athrun Zala... her firs boarding of the Archangel, where she plays the role of a stupid girl that doesn’t see that the ship she is on is from the Atlantic federation and the guns pointed at her, additionally she plays down her identity, being just a civilian for the memorial service, uses the infiltration software on the Mr. Pink to snoop on the ship.
And if one looks ate her in the Seed story, she just plays the role of be naive and sweet girl, the same template as Flay Allster just more successful, but in this movie, Kira is “ultimate Coordinator” is useless and Lacus is the stupid girl, that she never was.
Additionally, I am quite offended by Bandai just of the need to sell more merchandise, Minerva a ship that was not destroyed is directly scrapped and the next generation that in my personal opinion was conceived by people watching the Evangelion movies “Millennium” is there just to sell new models.
That is all fine and good, but it destroys the main story of Seed again as the Archangel is a representation of ships that oddly actually have existed in real life.
Ships that have been in one of the most bloody and costly battles of the world wars and in the end have survived multiple battles but inexplicably when they have to go down something next to them is sacrificed, it is and eerie phenomenon documented in history.
So, in general if this is an OVA like STARGAZER it will be passable, but as I have stated above may be because the death of the original author, or because of the sponsors, as a continuation of the main story it fails spectacularly. It can be vied as a spoof movie 😊
