Fan favorite for a reason. The outer senshi (especially Haruka and Michiru with their maturity that oozes through the screen and captures every scene they're in) are amazing additions to this franchise, the impact of these characters are still being felt today.
Story is fine like most of the other seasons, but honestly Sailor Moon for me has always been about character interactions and not about plot, and this season imo adds a lot of depth to the characters that we never seen before (also the turning point of the series where Minako becomes my personal favorite senshi because of all the amazing dialogue she was given this season.)
I wouldn't recommend jumping straight to S, watch it from the beginning because it will make you appreciate this season even more.

Another continuation of Sailor Moon saga seems to me like a "milking of fat gold cow". The series comes with few news - point out new characters and their (even though quite plain) depiction, new formidable enemies/allies and a focus moving from Usagi and her life to someone else - but it's only prolonging a struggle of Usagi against "darkness" that ended peacefully in previous seasons. The story is quite good but it is unfortunately paced. The beginning, which is together with the end the best part of this show, continues in a pace given by previous series but towards the end it rapidly changes. The same goes for at first formidable opponents that are no longer formidable. Action is thus rather a farce filling each episode. This show is full of repetition and its progress and level is notably deteriorating. I was quite surprised that it had such a good ending that somehow saved the day.

Overall story was great, charaters were pretty awesome and few final episodes were really sad and touching, so that already makes it a good recommendation! BUT, certain things were bugging me a bit, i.e., somewhere around the middle of the season Daimons became mostly incompetent and useless, and sailor soldiers started appearing all together, basically in every episode afterwards, as a 'Sailor Team'. That's the time when i felt like the story was slowly drowning, but the last few episodes gave it a life raft, so in the end, i felt it was an ok watch after all.

What a cool season! It has a really good story development, introduces cool new sailor soldiers with their cool portrayals, it is full of surprises, and thanks to some BGM and a few other things, it also reminds me of first season which I really adore.
