Watanabe Hajime (born 1957 in Niigata Prefecture, Japan) is an animator and character designer.
He started his career as animator at Tsuchida Production, where he left in July 1986 after the studio's bankruptcy. Afterwards he was a member of Studio Gallop, where he was responsible for the character designs and chief animation supervision for the studio's mahou shoujo productions like Hime-chan no Ribbon, which was his debut as chief character designer, Akazukin Chacha and Nurse Angel Ririka SOS as well as the hit TV anime series Kodomo no Omocha.
There he has also frequently worked with director Daichi Akitarou on anime titles.
Currently freelance character designer.
