ULAANBAATAR -- Mongolia faces a pivotal moment for its democracy as voters head to the polls for a parliamentary election on Friday.

The election marks a significant shift in the political landscape, after constitutional changes aimed at enhancing representation and governance. Yet, despite the reforms -- and the shocking killing of an opposition member this month, apparently at the hands of a campaigner for the ruling party -- there are signs of public apathy.
