Brent Hoffman
Brent Hoffman (Republican Party) (also known as BR) is a member of the South Dakota State Senate, representing District 9. He assumed office on January 10, 2023. His current term ends on January 14, 2025.
Hoffman (Republican Party) ran for election to the South Dakota State Senate to represent District 9. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022.

Biography
Brent Hoffman served in the U.S. Air Force as a nuclear weapons officer from 1983 to 2003. Hoffman earned an associate degree from the University of Maryland in 1987, a bachelor's degree from Newman University in 1989, and a graduate degree from the University of South Dakota in 1993. He is a published author and newspaper columnist and wrote “Life After” in honor of his late wife, Mary Jo (Archibold) Hoffman.[1] He served as a Sioux City city councilman from 2006-2010.[2][3] He has also served as a school board director.[4]

|Hoffman, a Republican, began his public service with a distinguished career in the military (enlisted and officer), as he was decorated 12 times in a career that ended at the Pentagon, where he survived the terrorist attack on 9/11. Over the years, he has volunteered as a Big Brother, Volunteer Income Tax Assistant and Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused and neglected children. He has served on the local school board and in several community clubs, including the American Legion, Lions and Cosmopolitan. In the church, he has served as greeter, deacon, elder and preacher.
Mr. Hoffman is a widower who lost his wife to cancer. He proudly raised his kids alone and admits he sometimes brags about them. His son, Silas (21), is a U.S. Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton. His daughter, Lydia (19), is a freshman at the University of Nebraska. Hoffman holds several degrees, including an an M.B.A. from the University of South Dakota. He’s also a published author and wrote "Life After" in honor of his late wife.
