Jason Mumpower
Jason Mumpower (Republican Party) is the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury. He assumed office on January 13, 2021. His current term ends on January 11, 2025.
Biography
After his career in the state legislature, Mumpower worked as deputy state comptroller from 2010 until he was elected state comptroller in 2021. From 1999 through 2010, he worked for Corporate Image, a public relations firm in Bristol, Tennessee. One of his first jobs was sacking groceries at Food City in Bristol.[1][2][3]
Mumpower is an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Bristol High School in 1991, and in 1995 graduated from King University–then King College and also in Bristol– with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He has been a member of the Rotary Club in Bristol. In 2001 he married his wife, Alicia Mumpower.[4][5][6]
Mumpower was also a Republican member of the Tennessee General Assembly, representing District 3 from 1997 to 2010. During his service to the House, he served as Republican assistant leader, minority leader, and majority leader.
Following an FBI public corruption investigation against four state lawmakers in 2005, Mumpower negotiated the passage of a new state lawmaker ethics code. His political mentor is Ron Ramsey (R), a former member of the Tennessee State Senate and another Bristol, Tennessee, native.[7]

Comptroller of the Treasury (2021-Present)
Mumpower was elected on January 13, 2021. In Tennessee, the Comptroller is elected by the Tennessee General Assembly for a two-year term.[8]
Elections
2010
Mumpower did not run for re-election to the 3rd District seat in 2010. The primary was held on August 5, 2010. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.
2008
On Nov. 4, 2008, Mumpower won re-election to the 3rd District Seat in the Tennessee House of Representatives.[9]
Mumpower raised $195,973 for his campaign.[10]
